BCS - Why I'm not buying it...

And why USF should be ranked higher or someone else should be ranked lower. Whatever, take your pick. I know this conversation is as old as college football itself but what the hell. Enjoy.

1. Ohio State (BCS Conference, unbeaten, I'm ok with this for now even though they haven't really played anybody)

2. Boston College (Same as Ohio State remarks)

3. LSU (1 loss, barely beat Auburn @ home, lost to Kentucky who now have two losses and as it turns out haven't beaten anybody. Well, except LSU.)

4. Arizona State (I'm not sure what to think)

5. Oregon (1 loss, very impressive against a mediocre team yesterday but they lost to a team that is no longer in the top 20)

6. Oklahoma (1 loss, Lost to Colorado who is not as good as Rutgers, or at least not ranked as high)

7. West Virginia (1 loss, Lost to USF, enough said)

8. Virginia Tech (1 loss, lost to a highly ranked team but just got bitch-slapped, no love for blow out losers)

9. Kansas (Same as Ohio State remarks except they should be ranked higher. at least higher than a team that couldn't beat Colorado)

10. South Florida (1 loss, yes to a team ranked about 26 but they beat Auburn at Auburn and they beat the current #7 WVU)

11. Florida (2 losses)

12. USC (1 loss, they lost to a really bad team but quite frankly I'm shocked they didn't jump back into the top ten. BCS may be better than I thought)

13. Missouri

14. Kentucky

15. Virginia

16. South Carolina

17. Hawaii

18. Georgia

19. Texas

20. Michigan

21. California

22. Auburn

23. Connecticut

24. Alabama

25. Penn State

There's so much more to say but I'm sure it'll all come up in later posts.

Hatin on the Sooners. Get in line.

Actually SR, if you remember way back when on this very forum, I have been a Sooner fan going back to my formative years living in Lawton, OK. I am still a fan but having graduated from USF in the midst of the birth of our football program I made the obvious transition from a team I loved for years via proximity and television to a team with which I have an actual vested interest. My OU fandom has always been my tie to big time college football, with my heart at USF. The Bulls meteoric rise has simply tied the two things together. However, all that diplomacy doesn't change the fact that OU couldn't beat a team that an unbeaten KU team did. And that team(Colorado) is not as highly ranked as USFs nemesis(Rutgers). WVU's only loss is to USF. I like OU and can't tell you how cool it is to have both they and USF in the top 10 at the same time but records and competition suggest that the Sooners should be ranked behind all three teams I just mentioned.

Unfortunately, OU squandered a 24-7 lead heading into the 4th quarter, basically taking its foot off the gas and the letdown, cost them the game, as Colorado never gave up. Its really sad that this fine team isnt undefeated. Late turnovers in that game bit OU in the ass, and they havent recovered mentally since, even in victory. .

Unfortunate. I agree.

As much as it pains me to admit...OU is not a NC caliber team. I know it looks like no school is at this point, but the last several games have been very different from the Miami stomping we saw. They don't have the "go for the kill" mentality that is necessary to win really big games. The Tech game scares me and even if OU wins out, the Colorado loss is killing us because they can't beat anyone. Overall I'm very happy with the season but the last few games have been a let down.

After watching Missouri dismantle Tech, Im not that worried. Missouri is a damn good team, they beat 2 weeks ago. But the poor play at Iowa St could be an aberation. Guess we will see next week. This yr its last man standing. OSU, BC, Oregon, and Arz St still have the meat of their schedule in front of them. All 4 of those could lose a game, and no one would really be surprised. I dont see LSU winning out, but if those 4 ahead of OU lose, I dont care, as LSU is the team I think OU matches up best with. Id love to see OU play LSU for all the marbles. Though I dont see LSU getting there. My gut tells me it will be OU and someone no one is talking about, possibly Va Tech or W Va.

So you are a closet Sooner fan. I knew there must have been a reason why you dissed LSU in your above post. :D

:D wasn't VT the team you said wasn't worth a shiat and did not belong in the top twenty after LSU dismantled them and now you want to play them for the NC :D you really need to make up your mind there Sarge. OU OU OU they will be lucky to finish in the top ten rather than the NC.
