does becoming a NFL coach rot your brain?

"We can't worry. The playoffs are possible. The playoffs are there. The playoffs are not out of reach," Lewis said.

"But we don't need to worry about them. We need to worry about win No. 3 in Buffalo this week. That's what's important. This is the game that counts. We don't need to look ahead.

"If we take care of ourselves, we'll be fine. And at this point, we can still do that. Let's take care of what we have to take care of."

"You have to go back to the little things. Why are we not doing this? Why is this blowing up in our face? That's all. Keep it at that," Lewis said. "We have some guys who care a lot. Those guys can still put us on their shoulders, as long as they don't get outside the realm of what they're supposed to do, and move us forward."

"This team can rally around themselves. This football team is its own entity. It's a team," Lewis said. "They have to understand that they're going to go out and win football games for all of us. That's important day in and day out."

:D

listening to both him and palmer over a sustained period of time will lower your IQ. i feel it. i'm growing dumber each week.

Well, what's he supposed to say Ton? "Season's over, F it all."

They are 3 games out of the division lead and a wild card spot. 9 games to play. Technically, yes it is still possible. Likely? No. But I'd prefer a coach who isn't going to give up just because they've hit a 90s-esque patch of bad games.

I dont find anything wrong with what he is saying in the above quote. He still has a chance at making playoffs so he is saying he is going to try. I dont blaim him.

He better do a better job coaching his defense if he wants to win. The team is not a bad team they just need to be coached better IMO

How is this defense so horrible when you have a LB crew like this one:

Brooks, Thruman, Jeantry, Miller, Marshall, Pollack & Henderson

oh wait all those LBs are injured or suspended

Yep, injuries have killed them this year. Not having Henry around has really hurt too, IMHO.

it's all the "little things" and "do you jobs" and "take care of what you are supposed to take care of" kind of statements that say absolutely nothing. when you are losing over and over again and all you can say is that crap, week after week, one has to wonder just what it is that he is thinking and doing.

i'm not saying he is crazy for still hoping for the playoffs, but i have absolutely no confidence in him to determine what needs to change to make it happen.

Yeah, I hear ya. I don't even listen to the press conferences anymore. He's been this way for years though. I think he says that boring stuff, because if we all knew what was really going on behind the scenes there would be even more press and uproar from the fans.... calling for the head of every player who screws up in a game . I mean do you listen to some of the idiot callers on 1360 Homer ever? Those boobs are always calling in claiming the Bengals didn't draft this or that and didn't go after big-name free agents (like over-the-hill Sapp when he was available).

I don't think Marvin has changed, I think this team is decimated by injuries and suspensions, and they don't have enough personnel to fill in. I hope he keeps his job personally.

Guess he didn't want to be fired yet, he should have said "PLAY-OFFS GIVE ME A FRIKEN BREAK I WONDER IF WE'LL WIN ANOTHER GAME DON'T TALK TO ME ABOUT PLAY-OFFS"

i think i saw that in a coors light commercial ...

actually, this would be refreshing. it would mean that he's going to do something different ... maybe.

this isn't all about injuries. marvin admitted he was out-coached after the steeler game, so he is doubting himself. he flip-flopped big time on the 4th and 1, first saying he should have gone for it after the game and then saying the next day that taking the points was the right call.

i love that marvin helped rescue this team from the abyss, but i don't think he has what it takes to get to the next level.

just kidding, i've never called.

personnel is a part of this, but the bengals are just not a well coached, disciplined team. marvin should see this ... everyone else does. so when you know your team is going to have some major letdowns in the game, you have to do something different. there's no way he should have had any confidence in his defense to stop pitt at the end of the first half. with where he is, unless some real systemic changes happen, he has no choice but to push the envelope to try and get this team some wins.

and don't get me started about carson. again, he is a much needed improvement over the past, but his weaknesses are starting to shine though. watching ben move around in the pocket and make plays happen, stretch out the time the defense has to cover, (am i praising big ben?) makes me sick to my stomach when i compare that to palmer's drop back and hopefully make 2 reads before he is on his ass after not moving an inch. and palmer needs to also grow some cajones and call out his team and his players. the one time he did it with chad, he apologized the next day.

and where's the smash mouthed football? can anyone on this team hit??

:D

it's killin' me.
