Packers broke all tendancies in Bronco game

I know the Broncos were nicked up on defense going in, and that adjusting for Lynch's loss hurt them more. I know their run defense has begged to be exploited. That said the packers showed a running game, a screen game, and a passing game outside the hash marks They almost completely ignored their slant game they have used so effectively up until now. By showing something other than their hard tendancies how much do they help themselves over the next few games as defensive coordinators have to consider these other possibilities?.

Well, I think the running game showing up was absolutely a result of the Denver run defense. I'll believe in our running game if we get it rolling against the Chiefs this weekend.

As far as the slant patterns go, I'll wager those inside short routes are a specialty of Bailey and Bly. Just a guess.

I'm imagining that cornerbacks and safties are going to have to give some additional cushion and sit back worrying about outside go routes. I see the middle of the field reopening for slants. I see more room to run. I think as important as the win was, the Packers actually accomplished much, much more last night.

I agree that GB went away from their tendacies but I came away from that game still thinking GB isn't a team to fear.

From Cutler's fumbled exchange to Shanahan's poor game management to DEN's inability to field an adequate defense to a horrible holding call on Young's 48 yarder... I hate to call a win like that luck for GB b/c GB still played very well (no team gets to 6-1 without being pretty good). But Denver did an awful lot to LOSE the game yet GB still needed OT to finish them off.

Don't count on it. I fuly expect to see Favre hit the turf at Arrowhead quite often, the Chiefs Defense will make them one dimensional and that's never good in Arrowhead. The Chiefs will get pressure on Favre early and often. Should be a awesome game though.

I am not saying the Packers are a force. Every week I wait for them to define themselves, and thus far all I can say is they are winning, often ugly. I agree Denver might have won the game. I also note the Packers handed Denver many first downs on penalties, and they failed to convert after two long drives thanks to their own mistakes, not Denver asserting itself. The Packers also might have dominated Denver. Might, might, might. I do admit I felt relieved at getting the win. That wounded team could easily have pulled it out.

No, what I am wondering is can one game against a nicked opponent with a poor defense before the injuries really be a concern for fututre Defensive Coordiantors, or do they continue to stack the line and play cover two, always looking to jump slant routes?

Good points but if it were not for the Pack's mental breakdowns inside the 5 yard line this is not a close game.IMO the Packers were the better team and allowed the Broncos's to hang around as they did with the Bears but with a bunch of turnovers added to the mix.Are the Packers a great team?Absolutely not,but a young team still learning how to deal with success.

BTW, I have been showed great hospitality over the years by your fans in the tailgate area. I have had steaks, chicken, and marvelous BBG thrust upon me. I have had beers shared, seats offered. Just wonderful fans. GB hospitable folks.

Yeah, that would be why I said I'd believe in it "IF" we got it rolling against the Chiefs.

It should be a quality game.

Who do you think gets sacked more in this game? Favre or Huard? Well, I guess the Packers pass more often, so we've got that going against us.

:D

I wouldn't have anything taunting to put in a Chiefs fan's sig. I like you guys. I hope your team does well. i just hope the Packers do incrementally better and escape with a win and with their health.

It was refreshing to see Favre throw those bombs last night. It made me nostalgic for the days of Jeff Blake to Carl Pickens. Why does it seem like teams hardly ever take shots down the field any more? That being said, I think Favre proved that there is no such thing as a shut down corner when you throw a perfect pass.

As for the effect on the rest of the season, it'll give opposing coaches more to consider when game planning, so that alone can do nothing but help the Packers. Also, that kid Ryan Grant looked like the real deal, but let's not get ahead of ourselves but rather see how he does against the Chiefs.

Uh, that fluky Cutler fumble on the 1 yard line changed the entire momentum of the game. And because the Packers failed to put Denver away when given opportunties makes it a close game. The fact is that they had miscues inside the 5, which is why the game was never more than a one score game.

Also, this game is yet another example of why the NFL's overtime rules suck versus college rules (sorry for the off-topic comment, but it's true).

Yeah, not sure what I'd say, it'd be pretty tame, probably why I've never done one before. I don't really have any hatred towards any team except DEN and NE.

I think the "ugly winners" might be the team the Packers are.

Green Bay is changing the way its offense has to be defensed. They are fully capable of putting 3 legit take-it-to-the-house WRs on the field on every play in Driver, Jennings, & Jones. If you are going to cover any one of those guys 1 on 1 with a safety, you're going to get hurt. It almost forces teams into a nickle to play GB.

Lee is a solid TE who can do the dirty work underneath and is a good blocker, and now you add the screens (wait until Jackson gets back - he's a very good receiver who creates gigantic mismatches with LBs) and you have an offense that doesn't require a good running game to be effective. And the running game can function better with Ds in a nickle because they can outnumber Ds at the point of attack to the second level.

This is a team that is in the process of getting progressively better on offense and already has a very credible D. Once Bigby plays his way out of the SS position with his stupid penalties & Rouse takes over, it's going to be a very, very good D. There are a lot of young guys gaining a lot of experience & confidence every week. GB could easily be a notch better than any team in the NFC by the time the playoffs start.

Make it 4 when KRob is ready. If they can muster even the threat of a running game things will get interesting.

They are young and improving. I believ that due to their youth they will show the most improvement from the beginning of the year to the end as they have roo for growth. They also indicated to future defensive coordinators that their defense now has to account for much more of the field. I believe this unstacking of the defense is exactly what a zone blocking team needs to be successful. It is the classic example of the pass setting up the run. I have great hopes, tempered by experience.

Read this.

"With Robinson yet to play a single snap, the Packers rank second in the NFL in passing behind the otherworldly New England Patriots, who are averaging 303.8 yards per game to the Packers' 281. The Packers' top three wideouts have combined for 1,209 yards, or an average of 173 per game, which ranks them among the top threesomes in the NFL.

Great info here.My hope for the Pack is they can turn all this production into more points on the scoreboard.Let's see the teens get into the high 20's maybe low 30's.
