Biggest Game of the regular season!

I think the problem here is twofold.

1) the 'respectable' Pats and Colts fans generally carry an uneasy truce in the smacktalk department.

2) There are way too many døøsh Patriots fans around.

Agree totally and competely but this is all in good fun :D

In pure coincidence, our WCOFF team (with Brady) is facing the team in our league with Peyton. So I'll be rooting against Peyton with every fiber of my being not only for "Pats fan" reasons, but for fantasy/$$$. As if I needed another reason to root against the Colts. Scares me though, since I can't help feel that Peyton will throw 55 times for 425 yards and 5 TDs to prove that he's still the Alpha Dog QB in the AFC.

I think it would be a big mistake for either QB to be looking to prove something on an individual level in this game, and I bet they both know it

true...that's why they're both just f'n great QB's. they're eerily similar in their mental makeup (i.e their pathological desire to be great) and not putting individual goals over team goals. they both know that if they ever strayed from their "team over self"approach, as their teams' leaders, they'd be letting the guys down. it's funny seeing all this colts v. pats vitriol because, speaking for myself, i don't dislike the colts at all. in fact, i respect the hell out of dungy and peyton and have loved watching the peyton/moore offenses decimate defenses (when it's not the pats, of course). that said, i'll be very happy when any colts fans who have the sack to step up with a sig bet are sporting that ultra-gheeeeyyyy "brady as lounging cowboy" avatar. :D

i said it in another post, but brady and peyton must secretly laugh at the media trying to create a good v. evil dichotomy or portray them as enemies (more than simply uber-competitive rivals) because they're good friends, allegedly talk a lot during the season, and have so much mutual respect.we should just step back and realize that we, as pure football fans, are lucky to be alive and able to watch two of the top 5 QB's to ever play this game -- for me it's 1.Marino, 2. Montana, 3a. Peyton/3b. Brady 4. Unitas, 5. Elway (with some combo of Tarkenton, Staubach, Young, Favre, Starr, Fouts following closely) --- in their absolute primes.

I agree 100% with what you said, except the small bit I took out. Even the bit about Dungy and Manning I agree with (although there are times when I think Dungy could use a little shut-up juice)

But I can't help but hate the Colts. First, for all the hatred coming out regarding the Pats being "The Greatest Team Evah!", we have had to listen to similar talk about how great the colts were for the last several years.

But that's not even the reason. That stuff was only about as bothersome as the sandpaper they scrape your skin down with before they attach the sensors when they are giving you a stress test.

No....my hatred for the Colts hangs out right with my feelings for the Jets, Dolphins, and Bills, all of whom have walked over us while we are down as division rivals. The Colts, Steelers, Broncos, and Raiders will always have a special shelf in my heart where I can despise them, regardless of how much I respect certain individuals. It's right below the Jets and the Dolphins, and right above the Bills (Why I hate the Bills less I can't say...it just seems to be that way).

It's much the same with Magic Johnson and the Lakers. I will always deeply and truly hate the Lakers. I revel in their Kobe based misery. But I will always think Magic Johnson is among the top 3-4 players to ever play. "MJ" is the only player I can say was better and do so with any kind of authority, and if I could pick any one player from all time to build a team around, I just might pick Johnson over Jordan.

+1 x 1,000,000...I loathe Kobe. Much like I'll always loathe George Steinbrenner for being the Boss of the REAL evil empire, and Micky Rivers and Graig "what a f'n stupid way to spell Greg" Nettles for disloacting Bill Lee's shoulder, and that big Rosie O'Donnell Ulf Samuellson for his cowardly "leg check" on Cam Neely that ended Neely's HOF career prematurely....
