Colts | Harrison uncertain to play Week 9

Thu, 1 Nov 2007 14:44:54 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Marvin Harrison (knee) did not practice Thursday, Nov. 1, and is uncertain to play Week 9

Per Rotoworld:

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports Marvin Harrison (team decision) will be listed as doubtful for Week 9 against the Patriots.

Harrison missed practice again Thursday. It's odd that the Colts say he's being held out on a team decision, as he's known to be having troubles with his knee. If Harrison sits out on Sunday, Anthony Gonzalez will likely start in his place. With all the uncertainty and a tough matchup, we wouldn't wait for Marvin in a late afternoon game for fantasy purposes. Nov. 1 - 5:43 pm et

I can't believe this. Harrison played against the Jaguars, although he didn't have a good game. The team held him out of the Panthers game. I just assumed he would be ready for the Pats game. The knee must be worse than they're telling us. :D Or are they pulling a Belichick here and Harrison really will play?

I tried the late pick draft strategy as presented by KRat. The two WR I got in two leagues this year were Marvin and ANdre Hohnson. From a fantasy perspective, I've been hosed this year by these two guys. I'm lucky to have won 2 games!

Even before this, I benched Marvin this week. He just hasn't been himself.

The worst thing about it is that you would like to have seen both teams at full strength for this game. :D

I agree I want both teams at full strength. I am glad Sanders is not injured for this game and I hope the Harrison plays. I mean if it was not for that ridiculous catch that Harrison made last year in the reg. season game you could argue that the Pats win that game. Here is to hoping this game lives up to even a fraction of it's hype :D

OMG, I can see it now. If the Pats win, every Manning and Dungy nutsack hanger will be spouting "But Marvin didn't play!" endlessly, waving it around like some talisman to ward off the clap or something.

I would also like to see both teams play at full strength, but not having a player is no excuse.

New England has been blowing teams out and has missed Harrison, Seymour, Maroney, Morris, and Watson all for significant time. For this game is sounds like they will have all of that personnel, but if they didn't then the team would do their best with what they had.

And to the Colts credit, they have also been winning with Harrison and Addai missing time (Maybe others, I do not know exactly because I do not follow the team that closely)

It's one of the things to really appreciate as a fan of the Patriots. You never hear an injury excuse, and guys are always stepping in to fill the gaps. Even when the issue is flat out having lesser personnel, such as last year having Reche Caldwell as the #1 and a revolving door at #2 WR, IIRC it was the Patriots fans on here that kept saying that the team would be fine while others were talking them down.

You play with who you have available, and win as a team. I hope not to hear excuses from either side after the game once a loss is in the books. Honestly, the only excuse worth mentioning would be if Brady or Manning got knocked out. That I could handle listening to, because that is the only player on either side that would be a catastrophic loss.

oh come on. If Moss was out, Pats fans wouldn't use it as an excuse if they lost?

Are you rooting for Moss to be hurt now? :D

No. As far as I can recall, one thing I do not ever remember seeing is a Patriots fan using the injury excuse on this board. If you remember differently, feel free to point me in the right direction.

The Patriots won 3 SBs without the likes of Moss. I doubt anyone will make it an excuse if he becomes unavailable. I know I won't.

+1. NO excuses on either side. There's been enough bellyaching about everything Pats-Colts-Brady-Peyton in these forums already. Just play the damn game.

Re: Colts players missing games, the guy I've been real impressed with (aside from Dallas Clark who is far tougher than I ever thought) is Kenton Keith. Bear with me as I reminisce a bit...

[Cue Wayne's World daydream squiggly vision]

....back in 2005 I was up in Toronto doing a TV thing on TSN, "Off the Record" with Michael Landsberg. They only invited me on because we were supposed to talk American football/fantasy football...and I guess I was, um, available. Instead of ANY football talk, however, the entire show ended up being allllll about the NHL strike because players' union chief Bob Goodenow had just resigned that very morning (and in Toronto it was like the Pope had been shot). So while the three other panelists (Tim Taylor who'd just won a Cup with TB, some random goalie I didn't know, and an agent) talked strike/NHL, I sat there like a tool and just made wisecracks about how no one watches hockey outside of Boston and Minnesota. Way to ingratiate yourself with the Canucks...:D

Aaaaaanyway, during one break a production assistant, who apparently felt sorry for me that I was completely out of my element and sitting there like a boob, chatted some NFL/fantasy with me for a minute, and as an aside told me that if I wanted to see a kickass running back who hdeserved a shot in the NFL someday, check out this Kenton Keith kid playing for Sasketchewan, just had a huge year in '04, etc.. Now, I see what he was talking about. With all the RB attrition this year, Keith should be starting somewhere. I hope he gets his shot next year (not sure of his contract status), if only to give us fantasy freaks another stud RB to draft. :D

Re: Harrison, I was reeeeeally bummed at the WCOFF when Harrison was "stolen" at #23, one pick before ours at the 24/25 turn....we then went Fitz and Roy, passing on Holt who went #26. I think Holt has a decent second half ahead of him, and Roy has been inconsistent, but passing on Holt and not having Marvin bogging down our WR corps are the lucky breaks that sometimes happen in drafts.

If I recall correctly at least 2 of the Pats 3 SB wins were when they lead the league in starters during the year. The one thing the Pats have never been good at is keeping it's starters healthy

so you're saying if Harrison doesn't paly and Indy loses you will use that as an excuse?

Lame

where did I say that? I'm not that kind of fan.

But there will be some Colts fans who would use it as an excuse, just as there would be some Pats fans that would use Moss' absence to excuse a loss as well. Just how it is.

I think he will as well. I think this is just gamesmanship. and :D to Dungy if it is.

This was my first thought, too: Dungy is playing possum with Harrison just like BB, I believe, has been playing possum with the running game/Maroney.

Yeah, but they were all by three points and they cheated! :D

Enough hyperbole on the cheating during Super Bowls. Prove it.

:D

Edited to add: NO! You prove they didn't. They already admitted they did! Seau actually came out and said they would have lost all of those game if they weren't cheating! So there :stickstoungeout:

I think that this is a bunch of BS on Dungy's part. He'll play. Marvin played in the JAX game and Dungy said that he would've played last week if it were a playoff game. This game alone might determine home-field advantage in the playoffs.

Marvin can't stand the Patriots (they're the only team that he engages in on-field celebrations against) and, even if he's just a decoy, he'll play.
