I marked the first game with a lone star beer, tonight I mark it with a don max margarita. it is the first alcohol I have hand in nearly 3 years but it is indeed time.

I do not believe I have ever seen a poorer leader and coach.

Dennis Franchione's days as the head coach at Texas A&M appear to be numbered.

Texas A&M is talking about buying out Franchione's contract, sources have told ESPN college football analyst Andre Ware.

Edit: Doesn't this mean we get Nick Saban as a replacement automatically? :D :rimshot:

Hearing that Auburn's Tuberville is the Aggies #1 choice. Word is Tubby doesn't want to leave Auburn but wants a substantial raise for him and decent raises for his assistants in order not to leave. Not sure if this is a great year for Tuberville to be making demands considering his team isn't exactly have a stellar season.

tubbervilles team had there foot on LSU's throat. Why would ANYONE leave an SEC school for A & M? For all the hype about this teams tradition, and what not, they sure don't have a lot to show for it. I understand money talks, but Tommy could get paid at a lot of better schools than A & M if he really wanted to leave Auburn. A & M would be a huge step down in terms of prestige. Auburn actually competes for conference titles. A & M has won 1 Big 12 title, and it was gift wrapped with a pretty little bow by Kansas State, AFTER they backed into it.

I don't disagree that Auburn may be a more reputable place to coach but lets also not forget that Auburn only has 1 SEC championship as well (2004).

Hard to believe Tuberville would leave Auburn especially since he likely has a fairly big buyout clause in his contract. However if there is a University that could afford to pay him alot more than he's making now and pay Auburn the buyout that school would likely be A&M.

I know it's been awhile since Auburn tried to hire another coach behind his back, but my guess is that Tubby still doesn't have the best relation with Auburn's current administration. BTW Tuberville's name has also been linked to the Arkansas job should it become available.

Texas A&M is located in Texas which maes it superior to any sec school. On the serious side, winning that division is just as glorious as winning in Auburn's present division. Also, noone can afford to pay more than aTm. They have vast resources and their facilities are as good as any in the country.

And it is located in Texas.

Auburn won in 2004 (and also went undefeated, which from what I'm told is impossible to do in the SEC), but were in the mix in 05, and 06 as well, were in the SEC CG in 00 and 97, not to mention there probation stricken undefeated season in 1993. Going back further, they were the best team overall in the decade of the 80's. No one outside of the state of Texas cared about aTm until they joined the Big 12. The old southwest conference was pretty much a joke.

wow dude, the crack about the swc cost you some crebibility in my eyes. How many national titles were won by that crew? Texas has 4 or so, atm 1, swine 1. It wasn't the greatest conference but it was oretty good.

Polk, I never seen threads so ignored like your A&M threads but you are diligent, I will say that. :D

I think it's worse the Panther Dave's ACC Basketball threads in August.

;)

I got to admit I thought he was referring to Fran Frischilla the old basketball coach.

Texas A&M football nationally? :D:D:wacko::D
