msaint
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football...ts_undefea.html Shula, Csonka, Mercury "Coke Dealer" Morris, all of you...shut your pieholes once and for all! Every season these shriveled up ass-clowns roll themselves out of their crypts, hop into the retirement home pool that has the Coccoon pods in it, and pop champagne to celebrate when the last undefeated team loses. Last week before the big game )and I got this from another site, but no link) Csonka apparently said something like "No I don't wish the Patriots luck and no I don't wish the Colts luck. I hope they beat the hell out of each other and the winner loses their next game." Morris, and I again paraphrase, said "Call me when they are on my block." Gee, Mercury, I have this feeling that if Richard Seymour or Dwight Freeney was on your block, you'd be hiding behind your giant supply of Depends. And now Shula's saying that if, IF the Pats go undefeated they should get a Barry Bonds-esque asterisk next to the record. It's certainly a valid debate in light of CameraGate but coming from these dopes it just sounds petty. If the Pats go 16-0 (two more games than the 72 Fins) no asterisk will be required.

They are the only team to go undefeated, they earned whatever actions or statements that want to make, at least concerning another team going undefeated. Someone may have made this debate if they had gone undefeated before this year but they are definately not using recording signals now that they got caught and there would be no debate for an * next to this season. I think you're kissing up to people on this board a little too much with that comment. Yeah, not kissing up. Couldn't give a rat's assz what a bunch of anonymous people (99% of whom hide behind aliases and nicknames) think of me or the Pats as the team steamrolls through the league at a record pace. But there will no doubt be debate if they go undefeated and the "A-word" will be tossed around, bet on it. I certainly don't think that accomplishing perhaps the most difficult task in all of sports -- going undefeated in the current parity-ridden NFL -- should be marred with a silly asterisk, but you can't say that those who argue that the Pats SHOULD get an asterisk due to their nasty cheating ways wouldn't believe their point entirely valid. That's what I meant by "valid"......but thanks for the ball-sack check there, fella.

Hat Trick
I HATE the pats, HATE them. But if they go 16-0 they deserve no * or any negative crap that comes there way. I alos think the 72 phins are a bunch of old farts that take it way too seriously that they went undefeated, sure its a great feat, but to do it nowadays would be completely different. Now, you're backtracking and changing the meaning of what you wrote. That's fine, but don't get all pissy about it.

If it's that important to you and your overall happiness/success today to "call me out" for this horrible transgression, fine. You win. I am a weak and worthless Pats fan only looking for the love and acceptance of people here at the Huddle. Well done, sir.
bigrocks
Ironic how fans of the “consummate” modern NFL team, are berating those players and coaches who own the ultimate “team” accomplishment…. i.e. going undefeated through an entire season. Whether or not the ’72 Dolphins are the best team in NFL history is debatable, but what they achieved is not – yet every year there are always a number of fans and sportswriters who rebuke them for celebrating when that season’s last undefeated team goes down. IMHO, the reason the players from that undefeated team hold their accomplishment so dear is simple - they were not highly regarded during or after that ‘72 season and they take it personally. Sound familiar Pats fans? That said, I don’t believe a prospective undefeated season by the Pats in 2007 should be marked by an asterisk because of Cameragate – but I also don’t believe accomplishing it in today’s NFL is any more difficult than doing it in the early 70’s. The circumstances may be different, but the road is not…. Every team was gunning for the Dolphins that season, they played most of it with their 2nd string QB, and they even had to go on the road to play the AFC Championship. Yet they won week in week out. If the Pats run the table, they deserve the accolades, but lay off the guys from the ’72 Phins. They deserve to cherish their record – and got there first. cre8tiff
I truly despise the Pats, since they cheated to win the Super Bowl versus the Rams. That being said, these dickheads from the '72 Dolphins need to be brought down. Especially since it would be friggin hilarious if they lose thier precious undefeated ceremony the same year they become the first team to go 0-16. Now THAT would be sweet. But I won't be crying any tears if the Pats lose. Kind of a win-win.
