vikings711
Is anyone starting Kolby Smith this week? Priest Holmes is supposed to share the carries with Smith and they are playing DEN.
irish
Not sure just yet but I might. I like keeping things up in the air this way my opponent has to gameplan for everything. Edited November 7, 2007 by irish
Gdawg
Considering it. Going to try to pick him up tonight, see how the week shakes out. Â You'd think that IF KC gets a decent-sized lead over DEN, someone would have to grind up some clock, and that won't be Holmes...
msaint
IF KC gets a decent-sized lead over DEN... Â As your all-caps IF implies, that's no sure thing the way KC's offense has been playing. Huard has been terrible & Herm might switch back to Croyle if Huard sh*ts the bed against the woeful Broncs D.

Best-case for a Smith owner would be if KC somehow blew out DEN. Not certain that's going to be the case...

The Chiefs have yet to throttle anyone, and that certainly won't start against a hated divison rival.
Menudo
What is the reasoning for thinking Smith with get the bulk of carries, rather than Priest ? Â When LJ went out on Sunday, they immediately turned to Priest.
G.K.Trey
What is the reasoning for thinking Smith with get the bulk of carries, rather than Priest ? When LJ went out on Sunday, they immediately turned to Priest.  because the game was almost over, Priest is in no way ready for 25 carries. This is why it will be split and my guess is Smith gets more carries the Priest.

Bring Back Pat!!!
Â My backs in Weapons of DMD were LJ and Jordan. Was forced to pick someone up, and missed out on Priest.

Lucky11
i'm gonna have to start Smith this week as i'm in the weeds with my current RB situation. in the overall scheme of things (2-7 and a six game losing streak) it won't matter much, but if i can play spoiler it'll at least count for something. just hoping Denver's rushing defense decides to take the week off, and wishing Holmes a 24 hour stomach flu starting sometime Sunday morning. Â yup. i've resorted to rooting for last minutes scratches. i'm officially a d-bag.
Uncle Wiggy
I'm actually considering starting K Smith over Travis Henry. Â I just want Henry suspended once and for all so I can start Selvin Young.
i_am_the_swammi
I'm really not sure wher all the Kolby Smith love is coming from...he has exactly ZERO carries so far this year, and no one knows in the slightest if he has any ability to pick up blitzes, read run coverage at the pro level, etc. KC is 4-4, and I seriously doubt they give the bulk of the carries to a rookie RB against a hated divsional foe. Â While Holmes is "working his way back", let's think for a moment.... Â 1. he knows all of the items mentioned above (blitz pick-up, etc.) 2. He is well-rested, and is in excellent shape, according to himself, teammates, and even the coaches who praised his work ethic to remain in game-shape while on the PUP 3. He has no mental aversion to contact, as evidenced by his trade-mark leap into the endzone last week. 4. Herm and KC are in "win" mode....they will go with the best player who gievs them the best chance to win. Â I'm not buying this smoke-screen, not for a minute. Both will get carries, but it will be Priest who gets the heavier load, and any touches inside the 10-yard line. Â Holmes: 14-18 carries, 70-80 yards, 1-2 TDs Smith: 6-10 carries, 25-35 yards, 0 TDs

If they were thinking of going with the youngster, why wouldn't they have gotten him some work in this situation ? I'm thinking that they both get time, but, Priest gets the bulk. gasface
id be suprised if holmes gets over 10 carries... Â i also dont know anything about smith, but the fact that they traded bennet before they knew if holmes was gonna be able to play at all shows they must have some confidence in him

What's it matter, everyone here thinks Priest is washed up, right? Of course Priest gets the bulk of the carries, cause fact of the matter PH is still a better overall player than Kolby is even if he is 34 years old. Check you calendar for when Bennett was traded, and when Holmes came off the PUP. The Chiefs knew Holmes was going to be able to play....thats why they traded Bennett.  If you really belieive they are felt all along that Smith was ready to play, why hasn't he seen the pigskin once this year? He may now play out of necessity, but it ain't because they suddenly feel he's "ready".

Hat Trick
How long will it take Holmes to prove his doubters wrong, chances are, not long! My guess is Smith to show that he doesn't have what it takes to be a #1 RB in the NFL. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â

I knew it. Â For what it's worth, I grabbed Priest off Waivers yesterday and fully believe the old man has it in him at least for this game against DEN. He's not a long term guy for any team, but worth a look for this particular matchup.
FantasyGuy20
Nov 7 Adam Teicher, of The Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs RB Kolby Smith is expected to fill in for RB Larry Johnson (foot), who is expected to miss two to three weeks. Smith is expected to split the workload with RB Priest Holmes in Week 10.
