LooGie
Just a spectacular article at the awe-inspiring Cold Hard Football Facts site, that compares the 2 through their first 8 games. Even comparing the two's haristyles http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/Article.php?Page=1828 Dickerson raised the bar high for rookie running backs. But with a second half similar to his first Peterson could re-write the record book. So who is the best rookie running back ever? No need to wait eight more weeks to decide, the Cold, Hard Football Facts bypass the schedule to crown the king of all rookie running backs right now. Yet another RB that Carolina had no chance at that actually isn't a first day bust.

Scooby
He has nothing on Tony Dorsett or Big Ben. Tony D was the missing component for Dallas to win the Super Bowl in '77, Tony's rookie year (last chance for Staubach). Ben Rothlisberger is another rookie who LEAD his team to a Super Bowl, the greatest possible accomplishment for any rookie ever. Jamaal Lewis won a super as a rookie feature back (with Dilfer at QB). Numbers are great and all for guys who have no chance at LEADING a team to a Super Bowl victory, let alone do it in a rookie season. This league is about winning championships. Like Dickerson, Adrian Peterson will never have a chance at winning a Super Bowl. He will always be a shiny penny on a floor covered in chewed gum. Uncle Wiggy
I'm too lazy to look it up but I think Moss scored 17 TDs his rookie year. As a matter of fact, I think Fred Taylor also scored 17 TDs his rookie year that same season but was overshadowed by Moss. Let's see how Peterson finishes before we crown him greatest rookie ever. ...and Scooby is correct in pointing out Big Ben's accomplishments will outshine Peterson even if he does finish with the best individual stats ever for a rookie. cre8tiff
Mentioning a rook in the same breath as Eric DIckerson is premature. Anyone can have an outstanding season, see Kurt Warner. AP deserves credit as he accomplishes breaking rookie records, but let's not reserve a spot in Canton for him just yet.

Avernus
unfortunately...I'm seriously tempted to try and trade him right now in my local because of fear of injury.... but I just can't follow through with that sort of crazy logic....no matter how much it tempts me.. Ummm...well he's already going into Canton...at least a piece of him is for his 296 yard record.

Avernus
+100 apparently you aren't aware of his college injury history? this is where I am inclined to call someone a jackass...but then again he plays for your home team.. plus you 2 are Vikings fans... You don't have to be a Vikings fan to realize that he's the best RB the league has seen in years. But go ahead and trade him, let me know how that works out for ya. And if name calling makes you feel better, have at it.
rai
Actually it makes me see how BAD Chester Taylor was last year. It's the line. I'm not saying AP is not great. But that system and the line are very RB friendly. I had Chester last year and he did just OK but really sucked considering what a great RB could do with that line. I felt personally attacked.. and yes, we will have openings next year and I didn't say I was going to trade him....I said I was tempted because of his injury history in college...as I usually try and avoid any player with such an injury history in such short playing time... but even a 4 yr old can see that he's probably the most talented RB to ever touch a football....but if it were to make my fantasy team better, I would do it... maybe LT and Brady for Ben and AP.... but then again...I think Brady's production will slip down some in the homerun stretch and I can get by with Roethlisberger and Losman at QB

I hate the QB situation there, though.... I had Chester last year solely because of how strong the OL was....couple that with AP's talent and I feel like a genius for landing him in what I believe was the 1st pick of the 4th round
Pope Flick
1965 chi | 14 | 166 867 5.2 14 | 29 507 17.5 6 Gayle Sayers' rookie year. Add 2 more TDs on returns and you have 22 in 14 games.

i_am_the_swammi
kinda scary how good he'll be when there is a passing game to take the pressure off the run....teams are loading up on the run, and he still is producing. As far as best rookie ever.....meh, perhaps. Still 8 games left.
