Disfunction Junction
Idiots outsmarted themselves. No reason to even line up there doing foot stomps and hand gestures. Cost them the game. They deserve it.

They deserve it. I disagree ... what cost them the game was FIVE Peyton Manning interceptions (you will note I didn't even count the 6th one to end the game). Goopster24
What was the exact reasoning behind the "false start" call?
CaptainHook
said they were "simulating a snap". I think it was the right call. Worth a shot too. 5 yards shouldn't make a difference for Vinatieri.
sp3ctr3
What was the exact reasoning behind the "false start" call? Not false start, "simulated snap" - it was borderline...
CaptainHook
Funny thing was, they tried to do this before. I think it was in Manning's first play-off game vs. Tennessee. Adam Meadows came in as a second tackle, reported as eligible, and then tried to go in motion. They called the same thing then too. The refs won't let you get away with it. Like I said, I think it was a good call. It shouldn't have mattered. Vinatieri should have made that kick. Manning shouldn't have thrown all those picks. The special teams shouldn't have given up two returns for TD's. You do enough stupid things, you lose.

Disfunction Junction
Field conditions were to horrible to gamble a chance of backing up your kicker. Didn't that penalty also cost them 30 seconds?

The clock was running. c'mon. there is no difference between 24 and 29 yards.

No. Why would the penalty cost them 30 seconds? Clock stops on a penalty. No ... but Dungy DID call a time out to get an explanation from the refs and that WAS DUMB. Hye, you gotta respect a coach that steps up and admits his faults. I'm sure Norv won't take credit for being an IDIOT! I wonder what that would sound like.... Once the penatly flag was thrown the clock was stopped ... the refs aren't going to reverse the call ... all calling the TO there did was throw it away. Disfunction Junction
No ... but Dungy DID call a time out to get an explanation from the refs and that WAS DUMB. Thats why Bill Bellichick is the smartest coach in the league. I am not sure who called that 4th down play with the Colts and try to get cute and of course got penalized 5 yards and cost themselves 30 seconds even though that was supposed to help them. I know a FG attempt under 30 yards by Adam Vinatteri is considered a freebie to them but would a guy like Bill Bellichik do the same thing? Nope. They probably thought the 3 points was free. The Chargers know its just an act trying to get them offsides. Who are they fooling? Come on, Bill Bellichick would have kicked the FG with no hesistation. I also noticed that most of Peyton Mannings comebacks does not involve him scoring a Touchdown. Most of his comebacks are last second field goals. They play way too conservative and the Colts are just SOFT like the chargers.

Disfunction Junction
Funny how by trying to get smart Dungy effectively iced his own kicker by trotting Vineteri onto the field and then sending him off by trying to draw SD offsides.
