satelliteoflovegm
Do they just throw Jamal Lewis's jersey in the trash? I mean really they have limited space, what do they do with that stuff.
Randall
Having Koy Detmer on the team was more than just a little bit spendy. Detmer, who practiced with the team from Wednesday to Friday of last week while the team waited to see if Tarvaris Jackson and Kelly Holcomb were healthy enough to make the trip to Green Bay, got one game check, even though he wasn’t with the team for a game. That totaled $43,000. Because of some fine print in the collective bargaining agreement, he also was due $48,000 in termination pay based on his years in the league, acocrding to the Star Thank the Vikings braintrust

Maybe they put it in a box never to be seen again like the Smithonian.

This proves to me that firing the coach IS NOT going to be a based only on financial circumstances. Maybe it shows that paying out his remaining contract makes financial sense. Zygi could build another Mall of America with the money this guy is costing him.

Zygi could build another Mall of America with the money this guy is costing him. That's a good point. Unlike Red they are willing to pay. Ask the Bears about keeping someone because of money(Benson) and hoping he'll perform. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and do what's best for the team. They had Mike Tomlin and stuck with Childress.
alexgaddis
They had Mike Tomlin and stuck with Childress. Unlike the Denny Green/Tony Dungy mistake, they really had no choice with this one...They were both hired only 1 year before...no way a team fires it's head coach after 1 year into a 5 year deal to promote its D-coordinator to head coach... Ron Wolf fired Ray Rhodes after one year. Sometimes you have to take your lumps. They could make Tomlin assistant HC(privately) and if Childress sucked they could give him the job the next year. The Bears should have done the same with Thomas Jones. You can't let money dictate what you do.
