Little Big Head
Hello everybody, this is my first post here at the Huddle. Ive been lurking around for a few years and finally decided to register. I am interested in some insight on DJ Hackett. I picked him up in a few leagues last year and was really impressed with his production. I know that this year he is playing the split end position, the position formerly occupied by Branch last season. While the Flanker position in Holmgrens offense is said to have the most fantasy appeal because of the amount of targets(see Djax in previous years), I really get the feeling this kid has serious skills, and maybe more importantly Hasselbeck seems to throw his way often. Hes played the last 2 games and been very productive. I wondering what your opinions are on his prospects the rest of the year when Branch comes back, and his long term potential as a dynasty player. Im pretty sure hes either a UFA or a RFA at the end of the season
Bill Swerski
Welcome. Hackett indeed does have some serious skills. Even with Branch coming back, I imagine that he'll still get a ton of looks for the remainder of this season, especially since they can't run the ball effectively. I see no reason why Hackett couldn't put up 1,000 yds next year, especially since Branch will inevitably miss a few games with an injury. Think ive seen your screen name on other forums. Good point on Branchs durability issues. Another reason I think he has a lot of value is that he has the size to be a solid RZ target. I noticed he had a couple of targets in the EZ last game. I believe Hackett was among the league leaders in catch % last year as well. My opinion is that hes a great trade target for redrafts and dynasty leagues right now while his value is climbing and his name is still relatively obscure. broncosn05
Hackett is a stud now that's he's in there. Already getting talk of being a sleeper next year, which was supposed to be this year.
txpkrbkr
Slot receiver in a good offense with good hands & speed? Sounds like a fantasy stud to me. I grabbed him off waivers a few weeks ago!

Little Big Head
engram is the slot..... hackett is the split end. yup, Engram has been playing flanker while Branch has been out, but is the slot reciever when the wrs are all healthy. Hackett played flanker last season while Djax was hurt but was moved to split end this year.
BumpNRun
Welcome...Hackett has great upside....he's a player.....+ Holm's likes him...I had him last year....I drafted him this year...kept him this whole time......He would have dominated this year, even with Branch..... He's a SLEEPER

Gdawg
Welcome, officially speaking  You're spot on with Hackett, picked him up in a couple leagues and expect good things, possibly even better things than he's shown over the last couple weeks.  A guy with skills on a team that's committed to throwing? Yeah, he might do just fine  Keep posting, early and often.
Randall
Deion Branch (foot) returned to a complete practice Wednesday and is expected to start against the Bears in Week 11. Â Branch missed the last four games while recovering from a mid-foot sprain and coach Mike Holmgren plans to monitor him through the week to see if he can take a full complement of snaps. If Branch can explode as normal, he'll start at flanker and move Bobby Engram to the slot. After the Bears in Week 11, the Seahawks' passing game gets a favorable matchup at St. Louis. I just wish we could have seen what Hackett would have done had he been healthy all year, especially considering the amount of time Branch has missed. Ive noticed the Seattle homers have been singing Hacketts praises for a couple of years now

MERLINS
I think DJ is a top 15 WR and his stats here on out will show it. He is a big target and trusted to make the catch. He is targeted in the EZ due to this. Branch will only help as he will draw away the safety help over the top and allow for longer YAC in my opinion. The game this week showed where the safety came over and forced DJ out on a long RAC. I also drafted him this year, (relatively high) and have held on to him. The fact that I lost him so early with such a high draft pick in a 16 team league killed me as I went 1-6. I expect to rebound as I am now 4-6 with a healthy Hackett and C Henry at WR. Belushi
I'm in two dynasty leagues and I own Hackett in both. I really think he has a great chance to be a top 10 WR at some point. He's got all the skills to be a #1 WR on that team. While I think Branch is a very good player, he just doesn't strike me as a go-to guy. I see him more as a complementary WR. But in the 2nd half of last year and the few games of this year, Hass looks for Hackett around the goal-line, and the kid has good speed. The Seattle offence isn't going to slow down as long as Holmgren is around, so I think he'll be a great WR to have for years to come. twiley
We drafted him mid-round in WCOFF and we had high hopes. I'm not making any excuses but based on his play the last few weeks I firmly believe he would have been the difference maker for us and we'd be in contention for the money. Â I grabbed him in another league for $1 last week and with Romo, Westbrook, Moss, Chad Johnson, and Hackett in there I'm feeling pretty good about going far in the playoffs. DemonKnight
I know what a slot reciever is but what is the difference between flanker and split-end? Â Oh, and, welcome bruv! Â ETA: I just traded for him in a keeper league as a throw in (for the most part). Its looking to be the best part of the trade at this point. i will target this kid in next years draft in all leagues. I was leery on him going into this season. rebdog
I know what a slot reciever is but what is the difference between flanker and split-end?   A split end lines up on the line of scrimmage. He’s generally on the weak side of the formation away from the tight end. The flanker lines up more in a slot off the line of scrimmage, which makes him harder to bump. He’s generally on the strong side of the formation. More often than not, the flanker is the No. 1 receiving threat because he’s on the right side of the formation, and most quarterbacks prefer to throw to their right side. The tight end generally lines up next to the tackle on the strong side of the formation, but he can line up on either side.
Seahawks21
I don't think Branch's numbers will impact Hackett very much. Branch's impact will be on Engram's numbers. It seems typically when Hackett catches the ball, it is because Holmgren called a play for him, where as Branch and Engram get their balls in the flow of the offense. They are going to keep taking shots with Hackett. Hasselbeck loves the guy. If all 3 WR's played in all 16 games, Hackett would have the biggest season due to his big play ability and red zone looks. bushwacked
Minus Week 1, Branch was catching a ton of passes with Hackett out and now Hackett is catching a ton of passes with Branch out. Engram's production will suffer the most with both Branch/Hackett healthy. My best guess is that Branch/Hackett will be 1a/1b....with Hackett getting looks in the red zone.
