This PLUG is in response to the

worst losses ever in Fantasy Football...and, BTW, I loved reading those and remember some of those games as well

This is a great Lead Up to ..TURKEY DAY 2007 !!!

Here's mine:

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, Minnesota at Green Bay, maybe 3-4 years ago.

I need 11 points to win, 10 to tie.......Antonio Freeman is my points guy. 10 yards = 1 point, 6 = TD......

Green Bay has the rock at the Vikings 40 with under 5 to go. Favre drops back, let's 'er fly and Freeman and a defender are tangled up, the ball arrives and somehow stays on Freeman's hip while he is still down. The Minnesota defender didn't touch Freeman so he gets up and runs into the endzone. I'm thinking NO WAY!! , screaming joyously at the TV. I waited and waited for the computer screen to register and add 10 points to my score, it took awhile but it finally hit. Not only did I tie my HTH competition, but with a tie, our league settles a tie with the most points by any player - I checked the reserves scores and I believe I won by 1 or 2 points. UNBELIEVABLE !!!!!

Any other 'Don't count me out yet's" ?????

I remember a couple of years ago where I needed Chris Brown to do something on Monday night against Green Bay. Chris had the game of his life and I won going away. Couldn't believe it. Chris actually did something fantasy wise. It was great!

That was in 2000 and the game was in overtime.

Man, I have had too many close victories that I have lost count, but I'll share one of them here.

This close call happened just last week. I was down by almost 30 points (29.6 pts) and my opponent was finished. I had Gates left on Sunday Night Football against the Colts and DJ Hackett against the 49ers on Monday Night Football. So I felt pretty good about my chances since this was a PPR league and I had 2 pass catchers yet to play. However, after the Sunday Night game was over and Gates put up a dud, I was left trailing by 24 points and was then thinking I had a very little shot of pulling the game out. Add to this story everyone on these boards last was talking about the horrible weather conditions that were going to hit Seattle and that the game would be very sloppy. I was wrestling with the decision early in the day on Sunday whether or not to pull Hackett from my lineup and put in one of my replacements- Chris Henry (WR), etc. I finally decided to leave Hackett in there and fast forward to MNF. Before the game started I thought to myself, I definitely need a 100 yard effort from Hackett and a td to go along with 8 grabs and that would equate to 24 points and a tie. Anything more would be a win but already too much to ask. However, the weather was much better than anticipated and Seattle came out throwing like crazy! :D Then I watched Hackett drop 1 sure TD pass and another go sailing over his outstretched hands. Finally he scored a td and I started thinking...I've got a reasonable shot of pulling this thing out!! However, the 49ers hadn't even gotten a 1st down, let alone score any points at all. So, I figured the Hawks would just turn to the run in the 2nd half. They didn't, instead kept throwing the ball. I needed 1 catch for 5 yards to win. In one of Seattle's last offensive series, Hackett was lined-up out wide on a passing play and no one was covering him. He was waving, I was waving and yet Hasselbeck did not see him or me and therefore went elsewhere with the ball. If Hasslebeck would've thrown it to him, I would not only have won but Hackett probably would've scored his 2nd td. The game got down to Seattle's last offensive series and Hackett had 7 catches for 96 yards and 1 td and again all I needed was a catch for 5 yards but Seattle really shouldn't be throwing the ball-just running the clock out. 1st down a run for -1, 2nd down a run for no gain. It's 3rd and 11, Hasselbeck takes the snap DROPS back to pass and hits Hackett to the left for what the announcers on TV say is a 4 yard gain. I'm cheering like a crazy S.O.B!! So, I'm thinking okay at least I didn't lose it would be a tie. On the TV it says 4th and 7 but everywhere else it registered as a 5 yard gain and when I refreshed the live scoring, I had won 131.4 to 131.3. The following morning I got up and double checked to make sure there wasn't any scoring adjustment, which there hadn't been.

What a game!!! :D

My best win in 10+ years of FF, the last 3 in multiple leagues happened this year: down going into MNF. I had Crayton and Nick Folk in the MNF game against Buffalo. I don't recall what I was down at the start of the game, but I was down by 9, right before Crayton caught the last TD catch. Boom, down by 3. They lineup the onsides and get it back. Toss a deep ball to Owens who catches it at the 30(ish) meaning the FG they thought they had lined up would be under 50 yards for Folk (we get 4 for 50+ FGs). Penalty (holding?) bring it back. Next pass is to Crayton closer to the 40. They trot out for the 50 yarder, get the new 'call a timeout at the kcik" which was good. Wash. Rinse. Repeat, I squeak a 1 point vic.

Thanks!

BTW - I THINK that last week I won my Good v Evil game last week when Hasslebeck took 3 knees on the last series, robbing him of some yardage and I won that game by .12 of a point. Yes, the decimal is in the correct. spot.

tootie,

tell us how it made you feel. did you clench your fist and pump it into the air, or did you bust out your old break dance moves on the carpet?

:D:D

I just sang to myself, "You take the good... you take the bad... you take them both and there you have the facts of life!" Honestly though there was probably some fist clenching and pumping involved.

:D Ok, how's this?

1998 Monday night week 16 (our Super Bowl) SF @ NE.

I go into the game up by 3 points and I'm done. My opponent has 49er kicker Wade Richey.

The 49ers score 3 TDs pretty quickly to tie our score with Richey's 3 extra points.

The final play before the half, Richey lines up for a 31 yarder to knock me out...wide right!

He still has a full half to beat me but the Pats shut out the 12-3 49ers the rest of the way...cool $1000 on a missed field goal.

Maybe the best part of the win was that I had Antonio Freeman and my opponent had Favre.

Favre goes off for 253 and 3 TDs...Freeman had 7-186 3...he outscored Favre 37 to 20...without that, the missed field goal wouldn't have made a difference.

On at least one occasion I was winning; but because of the last play of the game on Monday night I lost.

One time I lost out on $700 because Donvan Mcnabb passed for 2 yards too many on a Sunday Night Game.
