RussMan
Man I need this guy back in week 13.. I have Peterson, Gore, and Fargas.... the guy I play has Chestor Taylor. Vikings coach Brad Childress confirmed Monday that Adrian Peterson (torn LCL) is a "long shot" to play in Week 12. The Vikings have been targeting Week 13 against Detroit as the return date for Peterson all along, so this is not a surprise. Peterson did begin running in a pool on Monday and could do some dry-land work this week. Chester Taylor is likely to get another start against the Giants on Sunday. myhousekey
I've got a bad feeling about this. Could see them split the carries in his first game back and limit the fantasy value of AP and Taylor for the first round of a lot of fantasy playoffs... BeeR
Stay out you freakin wuss so you can come back next year healthy so I can draft you, get a few weeks of stud production, and sell you high before you get hurt again. Plus I need Taylor's production badly.
Grits and Shins
I'd hate to have to start him week 13, the last week of the regular season, unless the game was unimportant

Randall
Taylor is running well. Fantasy aside why is Childress doing this?

Brentastic
I have Peterson, so believe me - I want him to play. BUT, why would Childress play him if they are not in the playoff hunt? I can't see any scenario in which they would risk playing him (unless they have a chance at the playoffs).
Double Agent
If there were risk of further injury, they wouldn't play him. He'll have the knee braced. They're not going to gamble with him. If he plays, it's only because teams of doctors cleared him.

clickclack
I dont understand why they would bring AP back? Let him heal up- go get a QB in the offseasin- shore up the secondary and next year- the Vikes will be ones to reckon with-- They really have no shot at the playoffs- so why bring AP back and risk further injury to your franchise-- heck possibly the best RB to come out of college EVA!! rhippens
i personally don't believe the vikings are a playoff team, but right now, they are 1 game out of being in the playoffs. i'm not sure why everyone expects childress and the team to just bail on the season. there is a lot of bad football being played in the nfc right now. so saying it's so obvious for a coach who has a team that is 1 game out of playoffs to shut down a guy is a bit off to me. again, i'm not saying i believe they'll make it or even deserve to, but i can understand why brad childress, who's on the hotseat, might just want his best player back. BillyBalata
Maybe because its football, not the freakin ballet. So every player that has a two week injury, and his team is ruled out of the playoff hunt they shouldn't be allowed to play the rest of the year. If I'm a fan, and I paid 80 bucks a ticket, if a teams best player is cleared to play, I want his ass out there. Entertain me dammit. aterry1979
Taylor is running well. Fantasy aside why is Childress doing this? Its a simple answer... Rookie of the year.... thank you
MTSuper7
Childress probably doesn't feel like his job is guaranteed beyond this year, so he'll want to play AP as soon as the doctors clear him to play. Every win counts. 4-12 looks like garbage. 7-9 looks like progress.
MTSuper7
Taylor is running well. Fantasy aside why is Childress doing this? Taylor ran well against the hapless Raiders, but nobody doubts that AP is the better back and makes a difference.

wirehairman
If AD can play, he will. He stands to lose a lot of $ (now and in the future) if he doesn't clinch ROY. There is no way he will let them bench him the rest of the season if the doctors clear him. As for Childress, I think his job is in greater jeopardy if he sits AD after he is cleared to play. Like it or not, the NFL is a multi-billion dollar business and not a "just a game". AD fills the stands which directly translates into $. Look at the uproar when Chilly started Chet over AD. I can only imagine the lynch mob if he actually benched him altogether.
SuperCharger
I could really use him during week 15 and 16. If the docs clear him and he feels he can play then who are we to disagree.
MikesVikes
How did Adrian become a prima donna? Nobody wants him to play the game because he might get hurt. No NFL player should play anymore since they might get hurt. Cancel all the remaining games on the schedule. Somebody is bound to get hurt one of these days. NAUgrad
I don't care of AP comes back and splits carries with Taylor. Even in this scenario he's still one of the best RB's in the game today!!

Even in this scenario he's still one of the best RB's in the game today!! I agree the its going to come down to me and another guy in week13 to see who makes the playoffs... he has Taylor I have Peterson... If they want to split carries fine... I gladly put Peterson out there vs Taylor.... and as someone else said if the doctors say its ok he should play.... this isnt some catostrophic type knee injury....guys have played on the same injury before and not missed time... mike123
im a lock at 8-3 and have peterson sitting on my bench with edge and graham starting.. if he comes back for the playoffs he will compliment TO, Romo and S. Holmes very nicely

Double Agent
And when AD comes back (maybe week 13), I'm definitely sitting him for a game to see how he does...I think.
