Marvin Harrison - WR, Indianapolis Colts

Colts GM Bill Polian gave an update on the condition of Marvin Harrison's injured left knee, describing it as a "minor sprain" along with a "pretty big blow" to the bursa sac. Harrison continues to have inflammation in the knee and the Colts feel rest is what is required at this point.

HUDDLE UP: The Colts play on Thursday and with the short week, Harrison is not expected to play against Atlanta. Rookie Anthony Gonzalez is expected back this week and would likely start for Harrison as Aaron Moorehead may be limited due to a back injury.

Well, we know that it's not just a bruise now. No surprise about the sprain and it sounds like the knee pain that Marvin will supposedly experience for the remainder of his career may be due to... bursitis? Any M.D.s out there that can shed some light onto this? I thought that bursitis was usually a temporary condition. :D

Thanks for the update. I'm just interested to hear anything other than he has a "bruise". Now that it is offically MORE than a bruise, I can offically quit being pissed off at the whole situation.

The Colts have disputed the claim that this is a chronic injury that will bother Marvin the rest of his career.

IIRC, Manning also had a problem with a bursa sac coming out of college. It'll heal. It just takes time.

I had a feeling there must be some swelling in Marv's knee.

Well, that's good to hear. I don't remember where it came from, but I clearly remember somebody from somewhere saying that Marvin would have pain in his knee from here on out. And I've never heard of "chronic bursitis" before.

Geez, you can't believe ANYTHING regarding injuries these days! :D

I remember reading that. Here

The Colts issued a statement concerning Ed Werder of ESPN's report about Marvin Harrison's knee.

"Regarding a published report today about a lingering knee injury for wide receiver Marvin Harrison, the Indianapolis Colts have received no medical opinion that comes close to validating the report," the statement reads. "The club will have no further comment on this matter." Marvin's status for Week 9 remains in serious doubt.

Too much gossip.
