theeohiostate
Dunno about USC sitting at #6 , when they have one of the easier schedules in the country and haven't beaten a single team inside the top 36 in the country this season. Obviously they are making this list on name alone and not by evidence that supports it. Another big surprise is Oregon at #9............. ............without Dixon, they don't even belong in the top 40 . Illinois is underranked as they'll prove in the bowl season, they have the talent to beat any comparible team from the SEC or Pac
Coffeeman
If this is predicting how they'll end up in the final poll, it could make sense with a lot of assumptions. That is, USC gets to the Rose and loses a close one to the Bucks, LSU wins the NC title in a close one over WVU, Sooners beat KS and go to the Fiesta, etc. Not sure how the Big 12 still keep 3 in the top 7, if they can't get 3 into the BCS, but oh well. It is obviously not worrying about current SOS like the BCS, which changes wildly after each week. Interesting.... Edit: this also apparently assumes Oregon somehow loses out of the Rose but still does well in another bowl, perhaps the Holiday. But does that mean they lose a close one to either KS or Mizzou, with the winner being in the top 7. But then how is AZ St still # 10, if they go to a 3rd tier bowl? this is where it starts to lose me..... godtomsatan
It's also significantly effected by money coming in and potential money coming in.
Rockerbraves
To be honest, Vegas hasn't looked to smart lately considering teams like Kansas, Virginia Tech and Illinois keep winning while some of their old stand by favorite teams have stumbled aka USC, Oklahoma and Florida. Rockerbraves
I think this points to GTS's point above. If that were the case than GTS should head over to Vegas this weekend and rob those idiots.
Coffeeman
Date Bowl Location Prediction Jan. 7 BCS Title New Orleans, La. LSU vs. West Virginia Jan. 3 Orange Miami, Fla. Virginia Tech vs. Kansas Jan. 2 Fiesta Glendale, Ariz. Oklahoma vs. Southern Cal. Jan. 1 Rose Pasadena, Calif. Oregon vs. Ohio State Jan. 1 Sugar New Orleans, La. Georgia vs. Hawaii This is what CBS-sportsline has right now, and it almost meshes with Vegas, but still doesn't answer the Qs I have above re: a 3rd Big 12 team and AZ St. Oh well, its all just wild speculation until the 12/1 games end anyhow. Gonkis
Vegas must have missed a few Michigan games this year, namely 4 of them. I'm a blind homer and I can't justify a 20 spot.

Good questions. I can only assume they arn't trying to predict where a team will finish in the rankings, but where they are today. Questions I would ask is why is Kansas favored over Missouri this weekend at a neutral site? Why is Boise State an underdog to Hawaii? Rockerbraves
agreed- I like both Mizzou and BSU this weekend- Did you know Kansas is not only undefeated straight up this season, but also against the spread? What I didn't realize is that no major college team has ever gone undefeated against the spread. Supposely Temple went 8-0 back in the 80's, but they didn't have lines set for all their games since they played some really weak almost unknows football teams. Ohio State came the closes don't recall the exact year, but they were like 11-0 ATS yet ended up losing the spread against Michigan then again in the Citrus Bowl. USC, even in a down year, could beat any team in the Top 5 and Oregon doesn't belong in the Top 40 without Dixon? Watch a game.
