Easy n Dirty
If an o-lineman crosses the line of scrimmage on a pass play, can he re-establish himself by getting back behind the line of scrimmage before the QB releases the pass, or is it automatically a penalty? Big John
No. The lineman downfield is indicating that it is a run play. He still got penalized though he returned behind the line of scrimmage. Similar rule with illegal forward pass. The QB can't run ahead of the line of scrimmage, run back behind it then pass it.
Ursa Majoris
Whichever, it's a silly rule the way it's currently written, IMO.
CaptainHook
technically, I believe you can be one yard past the line of scrimmage. any more than that is illegal.
