To me the Heisman became a joke ever since the year they passed on Peyton Manning. Manning is the all-time winningest SEC quarterback with a record of 39-5.

 

Here was a great kid that represented all the things most people want to see in an All American College athlete including passing up the NFL his junior season, yet they dissed him by giving it to a defensive back from where else the Big 10.

 

Why was the trophy denied to Manning? Sorry, but the truth is the truth. It is because Manning is from the South and plays in the Southeastern Conference that he was denied the Heisman. In the 63-year history of the Heisman, only eight players from the SEC have won it. No player from the great Alabama teams ever came close.

 

ESPN and ABC searched in vain to find someone to promote more than Manning. They found him when Woodson made a great play on TV against Ohio State University. The voters and the media were not going to allow the trophy to go to a Southern boy two years in a row. They chose a player from Michigan who made three or four big plays over a quarterback from Tennessee who had one of the greatest seasons and greatest careers in college football history.

 

We have a society that makes heroes out of male athletes who wear dresses, abuse women and who get paid millions. But a young man who lives with both parents and has good character just is not cool. Manning is too old-fashioned and not hip enough. The media and voters decided not to let the nice Southern boy win the Heisman.

Manning wasn't even the best QB that year, Ryan Leaf was. Manning backed into an SEC title after choking vs Florida (AGAIN!) while Leaf led the Cougars to a Pac 10 title. Honestly, the guy that should have won it, was Randy Moss. Just my personal opinion.

Tebow will probably win the Heisman but McFadden is clearly the best player in College Football and Colt Brennan is the best "passer" in college football. Colt has one of the strongest arms and quickest release's I've seen. Although, he will need to work on his release point at the next level if he's to be successful.
