SpinalTapp
Talk about out of touch....during the broadcast, Collinsworth says that the Sean Taylor funeral is scheduled for Tuesday when anyone who is close to football or has been following the Taylor situation knows that the funeral is scheduled for Monday - how could he not know this? Gumbel quickly corrected Chris - so I was encouraged, until Bryant quickly went on to talk about Taylor and mentioned that a "couple of players were wearing #21 stickers" on their helmets." A "couple" of players Bryant? Have you been living under a rock? How about EVERY player in the game was wearing the 21 sticker and EVERY player in the league will be wearing the patch this week. It was a sad statement about these two bums and it was also a little insulting towards Taylor and the Skins that these guys could be so out of the loop with regard to his funeral arrangements and the leagues plans for honoring his memory. I also loved that Gumbel, I believe it was him, said that the network was going to cut to "Rick Romo" on the field after the game. NFL network should never be able to broadcast a game again....ever. Your thoughts?

Hat Trick
Gumbel is awful, just terrible. I can't stand Madden for the same reasons as Gumbel. You get paid lots of money to know these guy's names, shiatt you even have the roster sheets in front of you with the #'s on them, get it right you idiots. Collinsworth at least knows the game and players....he may be a dweeb but he at least knows what's going on. Gumbel is just unbearable. Rileyrott
I can't stand Madden either, but I'll take him any day over "Girly-Voice" Gumbel. Collinsworth is tolerable, but Gumbel has got to GO!

I had heard that while I was walking away from the tv and just thought I heard him wrong.
Cowboyz1
Gumble made a great game with huge hype into a PBS monolog. Horrible just horrible. He sounds like a woman that hates football, knows nothing about it and is forced to watch it because of her husband. He kept calling the Cowboys the Packers. He has got to go just like cornholer. boltnlava
Wow ....just Wow.....do they really pay these guys ? I tuned in the radio and muted the two 12 year old anouncers on NFL NETWORK.
DMD
Collinsworth is okay to me but Gumble? I mean the one channel on the TV that is exclusively devoted to the NFL and you couldn't get anyone better than the guy from Good Morning America???? How many guys could they have gotten with a shred of playing experience or at least some announcing experience? It is the freaking NFL - shouldn't they get the very best??? cdrudge
...couldn't get anyone better than the guy from Good Morning America???? It was actually The Today Show and then later The Early Show. My favorite line that I remember that hasn't been mentioned yet went something like: Idiot 1: The Packers haven't been able to stop Dallas all night Idiot 2: They stopped them the last series Idiot 1: Yes, but... Exactly..He said McCarthy called Barber the heart and soul of the Packers..I also notcied when they showed the 2 of them in the booth and Collingsworth was talking Gumbel looked like a freak when he started at him..It almost looked like he was looking behind him..I dont have NFL network..Last night was the first time I have ever seen it at my friends house..The production is high school AV quality..When they cut to Dieon it was like watching the Blair witch project..Oh and Marshall faulk got fat as a house. SpinalTapp
I forgot to mention that Gumbel also referred to Favre as "#5" on multiple occasions rather than #4. what a jacka$$.
Perchoutofwater
Gumbel sucks, there is no question about that. I can't stand him. Collinsworth isn't that bad, as long as they don't show him.

kingfish247
This is the first NFL Network game I watched all the way through and I have to say it was such amateur hour in almost every aspect it's unbelievable. Gumbel is terrible. That's almost cliche at this point. But other things like not being able to hear their field commentary crew. I think it was during Fasono's TD that evidently Deion had something to say on the sideline. He's talking but he's hardly audible. Gumbel/Collinsworth are silent while Deion is talking. Just dead air while Romo is dropping back to pass and drops a picture perfect pass to Fasano between zones. The other thing I caught was they twice ran commercials for the damn Indy/ATL game on Thanksgiving. Wow! Thanks NFL Network! You're so strapped for content that you're running commercials for events that have already happened! The NFL and owners have been trying to build a case that consumers are somehow missing out on something by their Network not being carried by the big 2 cable companies. You'd figure this telecast would be perfect (primetime game, Favre, Romo, TO, in conference matchup between two 1 loss teams etc). If this was their A-game then I just don't see how consumers are missing out on anything. Nevermind that their original programming lasts 2-3 months/1-2 hrs per day. Bill Swerski
Collinsworth is a solid color guy, but I agree that Gumbel is beyond bad. His voice is elitist and condescending, he has no idea what he's talking about, and he's never played in the NFL. Oh, and he took cheap shots at Tagliabue and Upshaw after being hired early last year. So why in the hell is he employed by the NFL?
Sturphy
I like Collinsworth, but I think he needs a strong partner. Gumble... yeesh. He doesn't even have a good voice for broadcasting sports. He sounds thin and wimpy.
MTSuper7
Does anyone have any actual ideas for who the NFL should hire to do these games? I'm not disagreeing that Gumbel is awful, but I'm interested to hear solutions. I'm drawing a blank right now on good alternatives that aren't already working games elsewhere. HowboutthemCowboys
This is the first NFL Network game I watched all the way through and I have to say it was such amateur hour in almost every aspect it's unbelievable. If that game is on ANY other network, they would've had a sideline reporter all over Favre the second he walked of the field. When he was injured and on the sideline during Dallas' possesion they never updated on Favre once or even put a camera on him until GB got the ball back and Rodgers was ready to take the field. No way any crew could be worse than this one.
