The weather's not too bad, but be aware that the Eagles re-sodded the field about 8-10 days ago. It's not as wet as it was in Pittsburgh last Monday, but I'm thinking that the new sod may be a factor with players like Westbrook who make quick cuts.

I didn't know you could re-sod fieldturf

The Linc field is actually natural turf with synthetic fibers woven through, but the new sod was just laid over the existing field, which is what they just did in Pittsburgh, I think. It's just a temporary fix until the end of the season when they'll do the entire field over.

From the Eagles web site:

Field Ready For Action Sunday

Two weeks after re-sodding the playing surface, Lincoln Financial Field is a thing of beauty. The lines are down. The grass is thick and plush and, says Eagles Director of Grounds Tony Leonard, absolutely ready for action Sunday when the Eagles host the Seattle Seahawks.

"It looks great," said Leonard. "We put the sod down two weeks ago and we feel comfortable that it has had time to settle in. We're able to work on it, get it painted and mow it a couple of times before the game."

Will players feel a difference? Certainly, the grass is different than it was in the previous couple of games, when the DD GrassMaster surface was worn down by three games in eight days and the normal wear and tear of an NFL season and a full college season.

Leonard thinks this field, with the time it has had to mature, is going to play fine on Sunday.

"It's thicker grass," said Leonard. "With the DD GrassMaster, the feeling was a bit more firm under the foot for the players. Having the grass there to hold it together, we will be fine for the next three games."

The Eagles watched Monday night's game in Pittsburgh, when the Steelers and Dolphins played in swamp-like conditions after the Steelers re-sodded Heinz Field just two days before the game. Heavy rains and a lack of time did not permit the field to settle, says Leonard.

"With all the rain out there, regardless of whether they re-sodded or not, it was going to be a really hard situation for them," said Leonard. "The two-week window was key for us. Our field has had a chance to settle in and the drainage has opened back up after the sodding.

"It looks really good and we think it will play as good as it looks."
