Ox breast with horseradish sauce and blueberry confiture

On Saturday, my wife and I drove over to Freiburg to visit the Christmas market they have there. The weather was crappy (about 40 degrees and raining), but we had a nice time. Perhaps the highlight was that, instead of eating food from one of the booths, we decided to drop into a little out of the way restaurant for lunch. I ordered the daily special which was ox breast.

It came out as nice slices of, I'm guessing, roasted (though perhaps it was boiled) ox meat. It was very tender. The pieces were covered with a mild horseradish sauce and then on the side was a blueberry sauce. The meal was accompanied by potato cubes that had been boiled in boullion.

Overall, it was a very nice treat (and consumed with the local pilsener made for a very nice meal).

I only am posting this message because I have never had ox before (unless you count ox-tail soup--which I don't).

It's always been my understanding that "oxtails" are actually just beef tails with a trumped up name. Call em what you like, they're delicious.

Oh, and so is horseradish sauce. I won't eat a turkey sammich without the stuff.
