SLAYER
Their line is top 3 in pass blocking. Do they not run block as well or is Maroney an overhyped back who is really not that good. I was not impressed with him last year and this year when he does show up to play(when not hurt) he really doesn't show much. I know he has been a darling of this board since he got drafted but I'm not impressed. Was just wondering if it was him or does the line not run block well. if I remeber correctly Sammy did pretty good running before he got injured. Inquiring minds want to know. SLAYER
He never gets the chance to do anything. Evans looks good running for Td's, I think he just doesn't do anything with the chances he gets. No running game will be the downfall of the "Kings" this year. dabuffbills
I thought your question was going to be "Does it exist?"
SLAYER
I thought your question was going to be "Does it exist?" No just trying to figure out if the reason they don't run that much is because they have no faith in Maroney. I know Brady is all world and they have the best group of WR ever put together. But you still have to run the ball some, right.
budlitebrad
Because I drafted him.

Crazysight
They don't run well, which is why the weather could be the Pats biggest obstacle moving forward. It certainly played a factor in tonight's game. Edited December 4, 2007 by Crazysight
SuperCharger
Faulk looked good running the ball. Maroney looks slow to me and seems like he lacks vision. Maroney did look good in the open field in the passing game tonight though.
Belushi
I thought Maroney actually looked pretty good last night against a tough run D. But it looks like they are using a committee at RB like they used to use at WR before this year, so you'll never know who's going to have a good day. Glad I wasn't able to get Maroney in the draft. But I did end up with the Denver backfield somehow.
Bier Meister
+----------+-------------+--------+----+| WK OPP | RSH YD | RECYD | TD |+----------+-------------+--------+----+| 1 nyj | 20 72 | 0 | 0 || 2 sdg | 15 77 | 0 | 0 || 3 buf | 19 103 | 0 | 0 || 7 mia | 6 31 | 0 | 0 || 8 was | 14 75 | 37 | 0 || 9 ind | 15 59 | 0 | 0 || 11 buf | 6 19 | 0 | 1 || 12 phi | 10 31 | 0 | 1 || 13 bal | 13 44 | 79 | 0 |+----------+-------------+--------+----+| TOTAL | 118 511 | 116 | 2 |+----------+-------------+--------+----+ i just don't think he is getting many opportunities. very rare we see him in when they are on the gl (or getting the call). clearly in the off-season, NE made a conscious decision to change their approach...rushing is not a priority- not even to shorten the game when involved in a blowout. to a lesser degree it reminds me of the year following manning's 49..... they became a run first team (significantly lowering manning's numbers). kingfish247
Hard to say since the Pats rarely run anything other than a 4 WR sets and haven't ever really seemed to commit to running the ball early in games. When Dillon had his big year in '04, he wasn't breaking many runs. He plodded out his 100yd games on around 20-25 carries per game behind multiple TE sets, not 4 WR sets as the lone tailback. In '05, Dillon's numbers declined due to a combination of injuries and age. Maybe there was also a decline or change in the run blocking. Again, all hard to say considering the Pats haven't committed to running the ball early in games this year and haven't committed to a single runner.
