Mike Golic thinks the Buckeyes played the BCS game right and deserve to be in the title game by playing schmucks out of conference, playing as few games as possible and finishing their season in November.

Have to agree with Mike on this one. :D

What's the differnce is playing smucks out of conference..................at least the Bucks didn't lose to 2 smucks not ranked in conference. Although LSU does make a case with MTenn St and Tulane :D

you have some solid points to hang yer hat on with yer Bucks, I would stick to those...............

SOS, and quality Wins is not one of them. I wouldn't go down that road.

Golic is on the money- their NC sched was a joke, even Mr. Buckeye Herbie siad they should NEVER sched a 1 AA team.

In the end it really doesn't matter who they play, the Big 10 winner will always be a NC contender. I applaud Tressel for playing the smaller Ohio school in non conference games, although he should consider taking on UC more often. He knows what it feels like to be the small fish at Youngstown with no means to get in the big fish. He's paying it back nicely and should continue to do so. Playing a light non conference schedule will never hurt a bigtime program like the Bucks if they win more then any other school. They recruit the same talent as any other schools in the nation each season, so I don't buy the arguement we need to play a touger schedule to prove anything. We do have USC-Miami-OU coming up on our schedule, but I hope Tress continues to give back to the small guys here in the state.

Oh, let's not forget the juggernaut that is ................ Louisiana Tech.

Rocker, I usually don't respond to your posts but how in the world can you start a thread that is critical of Ohio State Non Conference schedule when LSU played BY FAR the easiest NC schedule of anyone? :D

Sorry to bust up your guys little circle jerk here but they did throttle Va Tech who ended up in the top 10. So, you must know about a bunch of other NC title contenders that just loaded up on OC games against teams that finished in the top 10 that I don't to imply that they played "bar far the easiest NC schedule".

Professor would have thought you would have presented a better argument since you normally don't respond to my post.

FYI: This is from Yahoo Sports. 10 Most anticipated matchups in 2007. Please note one of the MOST anticipated game happens to be an outer conference game featuring LSU. :D

College football annually presents sports fans with a handful of memorable games.

Although it is doubtful that those listed below - in chronological order - all will be classic contests, they are the 10 most anticipated matchups heading into the campaign.

1. Virginia Tech at LSU, September 8 - One of these defensive-minded powerhouses will suffer an early season setback in this matchup of preseason conference favorites.

2. USC at Nebraska, September 15 - The consensus preseason title favorite faces an early test in its first road game of the season. Nebraska, which dropped a 28-10 decision at the Coliseum last fall, has never won vs. USC.

3. Florida at LSU, October 6 - Assuming both teams can navigate safely through rough September schedules, this clash will have major BCS implications. The defending champion Gators figure to be tired after hosting Auburn the week before.

Again, let me bring some reality and clarity to this since you obviously weren't paying attention the first time ......

LSU Tigers non conference schedule consists of ..... Middle Tennessee St  ....... Tulane :D ....... Louisiana Tech :D

LSU Tigers play 9 of their 14 games in the state of Louisiana. :D

There are 4 teams, that are not playing in the NC game, that would beat LSU this weekend .... Oklahoma, USC, Georgia and Kansas ;)

BTW, The article lost a lot of credibility when you read his analysis of the September 8th clash against V Tech. Did he really call LSU a "defensive minded powerhouse" yawn: Oh, no he didn't :headbang:

As a Michigan fan, Ohio resident, and graduate of 2 different D-III schools, I thought it was a good thing he did.

I still laughed when I heard the acronym for OSU's first 4 games was Y.A.W.N. (Youngstown, Akron, ...)

Listen, I think I've made my stance rather clear on this board that I don't think LSU has anymore right to be in the NC game then plenty of other teams. However, considering the fact that they are the only team being considered for the NC game who played a non-conference game against a team that finished in the top 5 (not counting the team they beat by 41 pts in said game, of course) means that the one thing you can't say in this argument is that their non-conference schedule is weak. In fact, does anyone else even have a non-conference game against a top 20 team, let alone top 5? I honestly don't think so. End of freaking story.

If you want to point to the fact that they barely slipped by a number of teams that were not that great, fine. If you want to point out that they have two losses to unranked teams, fine. There's plenty of blemishes on LSU's resume. However, not measuring up relative to other NC game contenders in terms of scheduling out of conference is just not one of them. The only other team in the final BCS top 10 who played an out of conference game against a top 10 opponent was Va Tech, the very team that LSU throttled. Now, maybe Va Tech is playing better now. However, that simply doesn't matter. It does not change the fact that none of the candidates has an out of conference schedule like, for instance, the one that USC has last year but at least LSU has a dominant victory against a highly rated team OOC. Something no other team can say.

Professor, not that anyone has ever confused you with someone who's posts are remotely credible, but honestly. I hope for your sake that you're just purposefully coming up with insanely stupid things for the sake of getting a rise out of people because that is really the only defense for 99% of the crap you post.

Oh, and another thing. Everyone who's having a great time pointing out how bad LSU's D is better hope that Dorsey doesn't manage to get healthy during the month off. From what I understand, there were no shortage of people saying he may have been the single best player in college ball at any position prior to the infamous chop block v Auburn and just wasn't the same since. Losing a guy like that is pretty major.

If he can get close to pre-injury form by January, me thinks things could look a whole lot uglier for OSU.

OK, Boy Wonder explain to me what is "insanely stupid" about me saying that our LSU fan shouldn't be criticizing OSU non conference schedule when LSU played Lousiana Tech, Tulane and Middle Tennessee Tech? The comment about laughing about the defensive powerhouse statement regarding LSU's defense well, I thought it was funny. Perhaps you should watch a few more of their games, because you might have found that statement funny yourself. LSU's defense has been getting shredded. Hell a couple weeks ago they faced a one dimensional Arkansas offense that can't throw the ball yet put up a 50 spot on LSU's home field. I'm just stating the facts as I see them.

Thanks for letting me and everyone know what you expect from us when we deliver our posts. Tell you what, when you gain my respect by actually bringing something of merit to these boards then perhaps I'll abide by the "Almighty Detlef" rules. Until then, I'll just continue to enjoy my time in these forums. Thanks again for your contribution.

Professor, why the name Professor? It's certainly not for your debating skills, is it?

Won't try to improve on Detlet's post about SOS OC since he did it so eloquently as only a Southern could, but I will address some of your other off the wall opinions/comments.

If I'm not mistaken you are one of the only posters on this college board that starts threads about odds on games, right? So I take it that you are familiar with point spreads and Vegas and all? By the way my "lock of the year" is that you are down considerable this season.

Anyway if you think the oddsmakers would have LSU an underdog to any of the teams you mentioned especially since they are playing in Louisiana then you are perhaps a worse handicapper than I thought. Please don't come back with Sagarin or Dunkel index to prove you're right. It's impossible to present hard facts when you give your opinion on which teams you think would win in a hypothetical game, so that's all I got for that off the wall comment.

Now to the comment you made about the loss of credibility of the article due to the analysis of the defenses, that's abit easier. Once again, hopefully you do more research on your propositional wagering than you did before posting the one about SOS outer conference? Did you know Professor there is a thing called google you should check out. Works pretty good actually.

Go to the google search and type NCAA team defensive rankings 2007. Once there you should. Never mind here's the link http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/natlRank.jsp?di...ef&site=org

You should now see that LSU and Virginia Tech are both ranked in the top five nationwide in total defense 3rd and 5th respectively :D

Hey jerk-off, read the post again. No matter how many times you list the OOC games LSU played besides the one they played against #3 Va Tech, it won't change the fact that they are the only team in the NC game picture to have an out of conference win against a top 10 team. Thus, anyone with half a brain is going to take issue with the comment that they played "by far the easiest NC schedule of anyone". Sorry, that's just how it is. Nobody is arguing that they played a murderer's row, but then again, nobody did.

Honestly, I feel embarrassed to be arguing with someone as stupid as you insist on being. I imagine this is what it would feel like to beat the crap out of a 10 year old. It's just not that satisfying.

The name speaks for itself. It will become clearer as I continue to teach you right from wrong, day after day. Post after post.

I've googled the "LSU schedule" at least 3 times now and it still shows Middle Tennessee St., Tulane and Louisina Tech? It also still shows that 9 out of 14 games have been played in the state of Louisiana? That Google thing is frustrating but thanks for letting me know about it :D

I have never taken the position that LSU is a bad football team. They aren't. I just feel that given the way they played in the second half of the season and how porous their defense had played that they didn't deserve to play in the NC game. I believe that today there are at least 4 teams that would beat them at this point of the season (Oklahoma, USC, Georgia and Kansas). My opinion, thats all.

It's laughable that you want to contest my ability to pick football games correctly against the spread. I'm sure some of my buddies could enlighten you on how my successes have placed money in their pockets all year. The biggest "lock" of the season is how you continue to make a Dumb A$$ out of yourself with every toolish post you make. Your reputation on these boards speaks volumes about who you are. That's why I have tried to stay away from your foolishness all year. I just sit back and laugh

By the way, I love it when you call me :D "Professor" :D

You remind me of the guys I used to destroy in High School and College ... run their mouth when they're with their friends but then run with their feet when someone steps up. Anytime you want to throw it down let me know. I travel on business and I would gladly have a conversation with you face to face. Name the place.
