polksalet
My hog fan friends are claiming that most of tebow td's were 1 yard dive plays. They are hog fans so they aren't that bright but are they correct??
detlef
My hog fan friends are claiming that most of tebow td's were 1 yard dive plays. They are hog fans so they aren't that bright but are they correct?? Actually, I heard some talking head make the specific point that many were not. I honestly don't know how many but that was one of this guy's main points. That Tebow actually ran a bunch in from "X" yards or more. I've personally seen several highlights of long-ish TD runs That brings up another point that I heard on the radio this morning. Yet another totally lame thing about college ball. Not the product on the field, mind you, rather the BS that surrounds it. There are a number of Heisman balloters that didn't include Tebow on their ballot at all. The prevailing theory is that there's some that refuse to vote for an underclassman. What a load of crap. Mind you, I haven't seen enough of any of those guys play to have a strong opinion on whom it should be. But if Tebow's the dude... So, we decide who should be in the NC game by having the coaches themselves vote with their pocketbooks and the best player in the nation is really actually the best upperclassman in the nation only we didn't actually know that. polksalet
I don't care if they were all from the 1-inch line. That is an incredible amounts of scoring plus 26 passing tds is the clincher. He gets my vote.
BS Miscreant
He did have a bunch of short yardage TDs but he also had something like 10 TDs from 5 yards out or more, several were of the 3-4 yd variety. I don't remember the exact numbers but I did look it up a week or so ago. Even if all were short, what I see is a guy who's not only a very good QB and an obvious leader but he's also a big enough, powerful enough athlete to be a really good team's short yardage back. Regardless of length, no other player in SEC history rushed for that many TDs in a season. I posted this in another thread: Tebow's avgs per game 260yds and 2.5 TDs passing 70yds and 1.8 TDs rushing Anybody who doesn't think he's the guy is just searching for reasons to give it to someone else. Sophomore maybe.
BS Miscreant
I don't care if they were all from the 1-inch line. That is an incredible amounts of scoring plus 29 passing tds is the clincher. He gets my vote. Corrected

BS Miscreant
You might remind your friends that McFadden, as amazing as he is, only rushed for 15 TDs and 6 of them were from 1 or 2 yards out and about half were from inside the 5. BS Miscreant
I thought I remembered this being the case so I looked into it and found this. Does not bode well for Timmy. Excerpt from an espn.com news services article "The Maxwell used to be considered a good barometer for predicting who would win the Heisman, but none of the last seven Maxwell winners have gone on to win college football's most prestigious individual award."
