jjpro11
It's raining men! Hallelulah! It's raining men! was that jackass thinking kicking a field goal on 4th down w/ 1:43 left, down by 5 points and on the opponents 20? did he really think they were going to recover 2 consecutive onside kicks? or maybe he is a dirtbag because the line was 3.5 and he just wanted to cover the spread. Delicious_bass
Anyone have a stat for how often that "well, we're down two scores so lets take the FG now and go for the TD if we get the ball back" thing works in the NFL? I would be curious to know the success rate... ETA: I realize NYJ were only down 5, but normally, teams try this when down 9 or more... Jackass
very shady. either he had a bet on the game or he's angling for a higher draft pick next year
keggerz
the Jets had 2(99% sure it was 2) TOs left....once he kicked the FG you had to think he was going to hope to hold Clev and make them punt and have a last chance to get into FG range for the win.....what was stupid and made no sense was the onsides kick

Rovers
The Jets were looking at an automatic FG there, facing a 4th and ten. With a QB starting his 5th game in the NFL, and Crennel likely to blitz him, it wasn't a bizarre decision because the Jets had all 3 TO's left. The Jets have had a lot of trouble converting on 3rd and tens.... if the Jets didn't get a first with that 4th and ten situation, the game was over. Mangini kept the game alive by taking the FG. Not what fits in with conventional wisdom, but I didn't have a problem with it. At first I was like Khloe, Kim and Kourtney Kardashian? Then I gave it more thought.... not a horrible decision. montster
the jets had 3 timeouts and had held cleveland to three short drives in the fourth quarter (two drives were 3-and-out). i didn't think it was that bad a call.

True but the onside kick was silly. Should have tried to make the Browns go three and out.

Furd
Mangini must have lost the blueprint for this weeks game, and was thus distracted.
MrTed46
They should have went for it. If you fail you still had good field position to use your 3 TOs and try again. What he did was stooooopid. I am sick of him

I am sick of him This is exactly right. If you fail, you use your timeouts then and try to force the punt at that point. You have to try to play for the tie first. "YOU PLAY TO TIE THE GAME!" scottyjets
Not a terrible play. I was a little confused at the time but it makes sense I suppose. I hate when a team is down 9 or 10, in field goal range on 1-3rd down with 15-20 seconds left, and elects not to kick a field goal. Extend the game!! Sgt. Ryan
I'd like to see one post EVER from around here where someone said he was'nt a good coach. Does'nt mean he's not a dirtbag. If you consider a lying cheat, who bailed on the Jets after 1 day, sucked for years in Cleveland, who cheated his way to 3 SBs, lost 500K and his teams 1st round draft pick in the process, and lucked into Brady in round 6. Personally, I dont think he is a good coach. Bledsoe doesnt go down, he loses his job at seasons end going probably 5-11 yet again, and is Bill parcells DC the last 5 yrs.
