"Free Mike Vick"....sickening

Apologies in advance to Atlanta fans who this does not apply to (Atlanta Cracker etc), but I found it truly sickening & disturbing the amount of "love" Mike Vick got from the fans & players alike. Every time they would shoot the crowd I'd see slews of Vick spamshirts & "Free Mike Vick" signs. I would expect to see it to a small extent, but that was hardly the case. Then to see the players with the #7 on their eye patches(whatever you call them) and Roddy White with the "Free Vick" on his shirt. Do these people actually think that dirt bag deserves to be free? :D

relax.

It is a phrase that is thrown around to show support nothing more-

they are his teammates- they are gonna show support- what do you expect? friends/family of Vick's are gonna show support no matter what.

not a big deal

I disagree. At best it shows a blindness to his crimes. At worst it implies an endorsement of his crimes.

I don't really know. Some may just be giving him support and it probably makes him feel better in jail. 2 years of jail is tough. I believe in rehabilitating your life and hope he does.

Does "Free Mike Vick" mean they want him out of jail or feel he is unjustly held? I would guess there are many in both camps. Some may just want him out.The players with the "7's" I would guess are friends that want him back.

Everyone should see he is a criminal and may be better after jail. It's hard to know what everyone's motivation was but I hope most don't see him as a victim. I'm sure some do though.

For those who think he's being unjustly treated they need help more than he does. At least he has seen there is a problem and if he ever wants to play again he needs to change.

These people should try and free those that are unjustly held. Michael isn't one of them.

I can understand supporting him, but acting like he did no wrong & should be let free? :D I'm just a bit surprised it was on such a large scale.

they are football players, and his teammates- you really think these guys think this stuff through?

Sad to say, but yeah, I think quite a few of those guys don't think it is that bad of a crime.....

they are his boys- they are gonna let him know they got his back and are supporting him

personally i find it foul that he did this but in the grand scheme of things [now that i've had time to think on it and digest it] what is dog fighting compared to like drug dealing, child abuse, murder, etc? not much. I think that Vick got busted and tried to back peddle as anyone else would have. Once he realized that he lost everything he's stood up and taking it like a man regardless if it was done for show or not, he didn't have to report to jail early.

When he gets out he will have paid his debt on the issue and as for me I consider it closed now.

People want to wear Vick T-shirts screaming support for him to be freed then find. i believe that falls under the 14th amendment just like people saying how terrible they are for wearing those shirts.

To me i think the whole media attention is way too much.

A nonsense argument. Of course it's "not much" compared to child abuse and murder, which explains why he got two years versus twenty or thirty, as would be the case for murder.

He's "standing up like a man" in an effort to minimize punishment, not for any reasons of regret other than for his own financial losses. He's still a subhuman and always will be.

i was a bit  when i saw that display after the TD....i was also surprised to see so many #7 spamshirts and even more surprised to see them being exploited by the camera.

I just can't hold it no more. Ok. He did what he did. But we do animal testing every day. The tobacco company sells tobacco and kills people every day by doing this. Giving them cancer to suffer with and all that extra. Beer and alcohol company same way kills people in the long run. Make people have accidents. And both are somewhat addicting. YET its still sold everyday in stores. On a side note. They won't allow Josh Gordon to be sold for those somewhat same reasons. When I for one have never heard of someone going out and having accident or Josh Gordon being the lead killer of whatever category. Its just another way the goverment can say you can't do this or that. Killing dogs bad yes. Killing dogs for science good? Eating dogs bad in the USA. Eating dogs in another country good to them. But the sad part is that Vick did what he did and its wrong by US law. But in the end you can kill a duck, bird, or any other animal. Whats the difference its man best friend. Ok maybe its the gambling he did. So u tell me you never in your life gambled? Oh maybe it was by US standards legal going to a casino. Truth is that in the long run everyone gambled one form or fashion and it wasn't legal. Maybe a side bet on a game or card game. The government does as it wishes and allows what they think is right. But if you think about it real hard. Tobacco and alcohol should be banned period. But it makes too much money to band no matter who it hurts or kills. And if thats the case so should be Josh Gordon. But we don't want too many brown people get rich. Because the best Josh Gordon comes from the brown countries. The sadest part about this whole ordel is that President Clinton got impeached almost for a liposuction grandes de la cafe'. President Bush going around doing what in the hell he wants when he wants and not one impeachment being raised. We are going to be in so much debt that the next president isn't going to be able to fix it in one term maybe not even in two. But our priorities are to say that what Mike Vick did was so wrong he should get more time or hes so wrong he should just be pretty much bannished from mankind. When its other things 500 times worst. A blindness to crimes is the tobacco, alcohol and our president doing to our future. Not something that is done under federal guidlines everyday anyway to dogs by having them tested on different drugs and accessories. Yeah he over stepped his bounds and did something he shouldn't have morally. But in reality if you compare what he did to a bigger picture this is a JOKE!!!

Nah, I may be one of the biggest Vick haters. I don't like his game. Glad the WRs in Atl got a real QB somewhat. (aka upcoming draft). But I am a realist. I just find it crazy to see that someone would say the things I have heard over this time with Vick. If you are a dog lover fine. But at the end of the day. Its bigger fish to fry and they only fry what they want to fry in reality because its all about money and politics. Because its plenty of out stuff out here that should be outlawed or taken off the books. But it wont be done because someone is greasing someone else palms too much for it to happen.

You miss the point. The only thing different in this case is the publicity. Every day, people are sentenced for crimes ranging from the utterly heinous to the trivial. This case is somewhere in the great mass in the middle and the punishment is, I suppose, adequate and much in line with what could be expected. The fact that it's not murder, treason or rape is no reason to not deal with it.

The publicity angle simply panders to America's insatiable desire to read about celebrities and sensationalism. Whether it's Paris Hilton getting her ass hauled off to jail, Michael Vick and his low class entertainment or some "famous for 15 minutes" no-name, it sells. Don't expect people to focus on truly monumental issues when they're being fed a soporific diet of trash day and night by every media outlet.

Eating dogs in another country good to them. YOU CAN MOVE, JUST LIKE VICK COULD HAVE But the sad part is that Vick did what he did and its wrong by US law. BINGO IT IS ILLEGAL IN THE US, guess where VICK LIVES AND WORKS But in the end you can kill a duck, bird, or any other animal. A blanket statment that is not true. Whats the difference its man best friend. NO, DOG FIGHTING IS ILLEGAL Ok maybe its the gambling he did. YEAH THAT WAS ILLEGAL TOO So u tell me you never in your life gambled? What is a JOKE is your take on this to try and make light of what Vick is guilty of.!

no offense but this is one of the stupidest posts i have ever read by someone...you have issues with other things being legal etc then fine but to try and use that stance to deflect the heinous acts that vick was a part to is just plain ignorant

but that should not take away from the illegalities committed by individuals just because you think they arent as important...we have laws and those laws need to be enforced...you dont want to follow the law then you take a chance at facing consequences.

Everything has become entertainment and profit driven. In the past the news divisions for the networks operated at a loss because these companies viewed news as beneficial to the communities they served.

Now almost everything is profit driven and there will always be things done better when money is not the primary goal. News and health care are two of those, but there are others(fire/police/libraries).

This is the reason my wife doesn't even watch the news anymore. It's never anything good, it's all bad. They say all people want to see is the bad side of the story, but I disagree. It would be nice to see the "good deeds" stories once in awhile. As far as Vick, I think it's a terrible thing, but he has come forward and will face his charges head on. I'm glad for that. It's just too bad they blow it up in the news so much. I know I'm sick of hearing about it. I hope he can come out a better person.
