Pro Bowl Snubs

Ok check your Homer Glasses at the door and lets see if we can put together a list of players that on the merits of their play and stats deserved to make the Pro Bowl....just because a player is having a good/great season does not mean that they got snubbed if the guys that got voted in are all having a better year. If you feel a player got snubbed say why and support it. Remember check your HOMER GLASSES at the door!

First Snub in my book is COLSTON

Colston LEADS the NFC in receptions with 87(Driver is 5th)

Is 3rd in yards after TO & Fitz, Driver is 5th

Is 4th in TDs with 9(1 more then Fitz and only Plax has more of players that didnt make the Pro Bowl, Driver is tied for 32nd)

Is 2nd in the NFC with a 58% 1st down catch rate(TO is #1, driver is 6th at 47%)

Yeah, he was snubbed. Driver got in on popularity. I think that's pretty obvious. Colston isn't as big a name yet, and they had the rough start. Popularity matters.

well duh. Pro Bowl is a joke.

I just can't believe Alstott didn't make it :D

I agree with Colston but another WR that should have got in before Driver is Bobby Engram. He never gets the credit or the pub that he deserves but he is the "glue" to making the Seahawk offense go. When the Hawks need a first down or a big play Hasselbeck looks to Bobby to make things happen. He has been a steady, reliable player over the years but continues to fly under the radar. I think if you were to ask Holmgren who the most valuable player on his team was, he would probably say .... Bobby Engram.

To date .... 85 - 1,013 - 5 :D

I was merely defending Driver based on the statistical observations of one Mr. keggerz. He was using Driver as a baseline for stats, when clearly popularity got him in.

:D

I used Driver because imo, he was the one that didnt belong

Homer or no, Colston and Brees BOTH got the shaft.

I disagree. Brees and Colston both did squat in the first 5 weeks of the season. That has to count for something. The guy who got screwed is Mario Williams. I didn't even realize the guy already has 13 sacks!

Homer or no, Colston and Brees BOTH got the shaft.

Hass and Brees are both very close statistically

Hass:

3620yards

62.5% Comp %

25 TDs

10 INTS

92.0 QB Rating

Brees: 3819

68.7% Comp %

25 TDs

15 INTS

92.1 QB Rating

Those 2 guys are VERY close but Hass did lead his team to a division title.

I agree with Colston.

My pick however is Mario Williams.

He is #1 in AFC in sacks with 13.

He is #4 in the AFC among DEs in tackles with 53. (Only selected DE above him is Jared Allen at #3 with 58)

He also has 2 FF, 1 FR and 1 TD.

Thats my pick as well. :D

I know you could call me a homer here but Greg Jennings should be in there...

he has 12 TDs but then only has 50 catches for 838 yards....he is tied for 13th in catches for a 1st down(Curtis, Berrian, McDonald, White are some of the players with more catches for 1st downs)

not saying he shouldnt be considered but not sure he is a slam dunk

also for those that think Jennings should go probably should look at his numbers compared to Plax

Plax 65 catches, 935 yards and 10 TDs

15 more catches

3 yards shy of 100 more recv yards

2 less TDs

Plax has 44 catches for 1st downs while Jennings has 35

Fumbles 0 for Plax, 1 for Jennings

there was a thread i think last week where Budlitebrad and i were talking about DEs and i said i thought mario would have a hard time making the Pro Bowl over Jason Taylor

I think engram is having a really nice/great season but i dont think he deserves a pro bowl nod over colston

Engram is 2nd in catches

6th in Yards(driver is #5)

Tied for 12th in TDs

It can be argued that Gennings deserved it more then Driver but I'm not sure either deserved a spot over these four.

-------------------------Rec--------Yds--------TD

Terrell Owens------76(7)------1307(1)---14(1)

Larry Fitzgerald----83(T3)-----1166(2)----8(5)

Torry Holt-----------83(T3)-----1055(4)---7(T6)

Marques Colston--87(1)-------1092(3)---9(4)

Donald Driver------78(6)-------1016(5)----2(Last basically)

Greg Jennings-----50(T20)----878(12)---12(2)

Driver ranks nicely with receptions and yards but his TDs are horrible while Jennings is the polar opposite. Put them both together and you'd have a ProBowler. Seperately they neither deserve a spot.
