Stud RB Theory versus SOFA

This week I am in the SOFA Auction Superbowl and my starting running backs last week were Darius Walker and Justin Fargas. Last week I beat the guy with both Tomlinson and Parker. This week I will start Aaron Stecker and Dominic Rhodes who I just picked up as a free agent yesterday. I do have Shaun Alexander on my bench and he can pretty much rot there as he has for the last month. Stud RB theory? I am going against the team from footballguys and they are starting Jamal Lewis and, I kid you not, Kevin Faulk.

So the SOFA Auction championship will be between two teams using Stecker, Rhodes, Faulk and Lewis. Oh yeah, stud RB theory all around...

(For the record, I do have Witten, R Moss and A Johnson)

In other news, SOFA draft classic has their superbowl and where Whitney will be going for his third consecutive title. He is facing the KFFL team using RBs of Westbrook and Taylor while they have Portis and James. Not exactly a super RB matchup in either league in the SB.

Graham has been fantasy gold. The best WW acquisition of the year behind welker (most leagues didnt draft these 2).

This has been a particularly bad year for RBs. Alot of injuries followed by the increase RBBC

In my local my key WW acquisitions::

Kurt Warner

Shaun McDonald

TB

Several others that were key fill in players that started 1 or 2 games

Brian Griese

NYG

Good luck boys!

As an aside, I do think that the discussions next season regarding value, strategy and draft position should be interesting. Never before have I seen a year in which RB's clearly were not the most important pillar around which a successful fantasy season was built.

Is this just an aberration or a sign of the fantasy world to come?

I agree with you to a certain extent. I think the STUD RB's weren't the pilliars thru the regular season, BUT the FF play-offs seem to be where they are paying off. The Brady/MOSS machine and other QB's WR tandems seem to have slowed and the RB's are producing victories. STUD RB's like LJ, SA and LT hurt alot of teams this year, but a good RB tandem pulled from the WW fixed some of that. I'm glad I didn't have to choose between starting a nobody to SA or LT early in the season. I still believe RB's are the key to a very GOOD FF team. There seems to be a QB/WR tandem burning everyone year, but I think we may be witnessing the changing of the gaurd in the RB's and new names will dominate the field. Rememeber when Marshall Faulk was the man and his number went down when S.JAX came in. I think it's that time again, and injuries have sped up the process. Who's going to choose between some of the new blood and these guys next year??? Draft time next year is going to be difficult IMO.

Am I reading your "signature" information correctly...you made the playoffs in your league with a 5-8 record?

I wish I'd picked up any of those 3. :D

It has been the weirdest FF year I can remember (going back to mid 90s). I think in the "big picture" it's an aberration, but don't be surprised if next year isn't too different. Really, think about next year and quick name all the RBs you think you can reasonably count on for really good production with low to moderate risk. GB we went to PPR.

PS good luck DMD. You're a big auction proponent I know, it would suck if you lost this one.

Yep. And I'm in the final. The commish wanted it to be competitive the entire year. I'm sure he's hating it. I can win the entire thing with my worst FF performance ever. All close games , but a lost is still a lost.
