godtomsatan
Which coaches are gone this week? Doesn't seem like there are as many obvious answers to this question this season. Cam Cameron? Mike Nolan? Rod Marinelli? Scott Linehan? How about Marvin Lewis? Brian Billick? Joe Gibbs (whenever they're done)? I'd even add Mike Holmgren to the list. budlitebrad
I'm pretty sure Billick is safe. Martz may be the goat for the Lions. Linehan should go back to OC, along with Cam. Edited December 30, 2007 by budlitebrad
darin3
Joe Gibbs (whenever they're done)? No way Gibbs gets canned after his mediocre Redskin team pulled off a nice run to end the season after the Sean Taylor "thing" and with Todd Collins under center for a few games. piratesownninjas
And no way does Marvin Lewis get fired... He took over a loser organization with a losers mentality... He's turned the franchise around and had one bad year.
BumpNRun
Just came back from the Fins game.....Cams gotta go...the play calling was terrible....

The Redskins FO has never been known for its patience. If they lose today, it might be all she wrote for Gibbs. If they win and then possibly advance in the playoffs Gibbs should be safe. keggerz
linehan and cameron would seem to be the front runners but i wouldnt be very surprised if they kept their jobs too
keggerz
I think the number of injuries that some coaches(jauron, linehan) had to overcome will secure their job for next yr
Gdawg
Sadly, Billick will be back next year.

Technically, I should have included Gibbs (and Holmgren) in the category of guys leaving their position, as opposed to being fired.
Zooty
IMO Billick should go but won't Nolan could get canned in SF but more likely they'll get a new OC Linehan could be done but I think his problems were more due to injuries than coaching M. Lewis could be done Herm should be done but they seem too loyal to him and Peterson, he'll get another year. Cam will be purged by Tuna Wade could go so they can keep Garrett (I think he'll be offered the Mia. job) I also think Kiffen could resign (quit not extend) in Oak. Counting the open ATL spot I think there will only be 4 open HC positions this off-season (Lewis, Cam and 1 wildcard)
detlef
And no way does Marvin Lewis get fired... He took over a loser organization with a losers mentality...He's turned the franchise around and had one bad year. Well, it's not like last year was all that and they lost their last 3 games to miss the play-offs. I don't know how much he has to do with personnel, but they've also got some serious issues in terms of thuggery. He was quoted as saying he wants to "blow it up and start over next year". You mean he's mediocre and had one good year. 8-8, 8-8, 11-5, 8-8, 7-
darin3
And no way does Marvin Lewis get fired... He took over a loser organization with a losers mentality...He's turned the franchise around and had one bad year. He's had several mediocre seasons but the defense is still not up to Lewis' standards and injuries have not helped. The Redskins FO has never been known for its patience. If they lose today, it might be all she wrote for Gibbs. If they win and then possibly advance in the playoffs Gibbs should be safe. I would be shocked if Snyder canned Gibbs. Technically, I should have included Gibbs (and Holmgren) in the category of guys leaving their position, as opposed to being fired. I wouldn't, however, be very shocked if GIbbs stepped down after a somewhat tumultuous season and age catching up with him (if not already caught up and passed him). godtomsatan
Mueller out in Miami, Levy done in Buffalo. The only coach today appears to be Billick. Does he end up in Atlanta?
FishFreak
I don't know why guys are sticking up for Linehan. I've heard he's lost control of his team and some players don't like him at all. There is no way that team should be 3-13 even with all the injuries. He should be next in line to get canned after Billick. Herm deserves another year since he was successful last year. However, losing nine straight to end the year is a good reason to get fired. Injuries really hurt the Chiefs but they shouldn't have been 4-12 either. Lewis on the other hand should get fired. Someone has to be held responsible for the behavior of that team and he's now had two straight disappointing seasons. He should be applauded for turning around a horrible franchise but the Bengals seem to be going in reverse now. Lewis is also supposed to be a defensive genius. The Bengals D has been MIA for years and seemingly getting worse. Fox and Shanahan should officially be on the hot seat as well. The Panthers and Broncos have been disappointing the past 2-3 years. I wouldn't be surprised if either one was sent packing. And of course Cam should be canned ASAP!
Chief Dick
I'm not a fan of Herm's but no way he get fired this year. Carl Peterson is the idiot who built this team. He won't get fired either. The Chiefs organization is a freaking joke. Starting with ownership.
Bill Swerski
Methinks that Cameron and Nolan will be the next two to go.

They have no offensive line, their QB can't stay healthy, and they have maybe two defensive players that I would consider difference-makers (Little and Witherspoon). All of the skill-position talent in the world won't help much if the blocking doesn't allow for a play to develop. And nobody is going to win without a halfway decent defense.
