Where would Briggs go?

If Lance Briggs were indeed trying to get the big money somewhere else than in Chicago yet again

( http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/foot...s.ap/index.html ), which teams do you see as the possible bidders?

Cincinnati?

Odell has again applied for re-instatement.

Here's an idea. Cut Grossman and Benson. Then give Briggs what he's worth to the team. :D

Cut Benson. Draft another RB. Keep Grossman one more year. Briggs is going to the highest bidder if they don't pay him before FA starts. He won't be on the market more than 5 days.

From Rotowire

An NFL executive believes impending free agent Lance Briggs will end up with the 49ers this offseason.

The Niners were close to acquiring Briggs at October's trade deadline, but the sign-and-trade agreement was nixed because Briggs was the Bears' franchise player. Briggs is a sideline to sideline outside linebacker in Chicago, but would play inside in San Francisco's 3-4 scheme.

He could end up in Arizona, but I still think he'd be a great fit in Tampa Bay, and would excel in Indy. I don't know the cap space any of these teams have. A few other teams that might get into a bidding war would be Oakland, Miami, and the Bengals.

This guy is a stroke, and will take the highest offer he gets.

Redskins WLB Rocky McIntosh may have a degenerative condition in both knees.

If true, this is a huge disappointment for the Redskins. McIntosh got off to a torrid start in 2007, only to tear both his ACL and MCL in Week 15. Lance Briggs will be on the Redskins' radar this offseason as a replacement.

Are the Skins going to have enough cap space to make of these big signing that they want to make?>

As expected, lots of talk about Briggs being a big target for the Saints

I would love to see that happen. But the need is at MLB more so. That defense could be in the middle of the pack or maybe higher if they got Briggs and picked up a top lb or corner. I would like to see Briggs and a LB with the first choice.

As it looks like Dansby will get franchised what I'd love to see is Briggs via FA and possibly Lofton in the draft. Then for corner Drayton Florence is probably our best hope, but I think Usama Young will be a good player for us and the draft has some very good prospects who would slip to the 2nd round.

The Bears were going to trade Briggs to Washington for McIntosh and a draft pick...but Washington said no way were they giving up McIntosh. Hindsight is 20/20

Now it is reported he didn't tear both tendons. Landy and McIntosh for Briggs? That's too much.

Redskins head trainer Bubba Tyer revealed that Rocky McIntosh did not tear both his MCL and ACL in Week 15 of last season.

Only the anterior cruciate ligament was torn, reducing McIntosh's recovery time substantially. The team now expects him to be ready for training camp.

You mean McIntosh who hadn't really played and a pick whom they didn't know was going to be for a proven stud like Briggs. In that light it made some sense. But to their credit, they rolled the dice and took their chances.....and made out. All along the way they managed to grab H.B. Blades as a backup for McIntosh and Fletcher.

Could you imagine the boost they'd get on the D if they landed Briggs and Thomas?

Man, that would be nice but I doubt Briggs goes to the Saints really. Thomas on the other hand would be a very nice fit IF he can stay healthy. It sounds more like a move they would make as well since the Saints have gotten burned on the few big name FAs they landed.

Thomas(Zach) visited the Patriots on Monday and headed off to New Orleans for a Tuesday visit.

Saints' door is open: Former Panthers middle linebacker Dan Morgan, released by Carolina because of his health issues related to a concussion, isn't giving up on the idea of playing. Like Thomas, Morgan is going to visit the Saints.
