10 Players to Avoid in this years Fantasy Draft

I saw that one of the Huddle's friendly subscribers took a shot at my article I wrote in the preseason. You know, the legendary one where I advised against Randy Moss.

I am going to pretend that I haven't already mercilessly flogged myself over that Moss pick numerous times this season - starting in week 2, where I proclaimed myself an idiot for including Moss on the list.

Because none of that matters. I made a mistake. Plain and simple. I realize fantasy writers are supposed to be perfect. I mean, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a fantasy writer that is always right.

But alas, I have only been right 70% of the time in writing that column over the last three seasons. I suppose I should just resign right now, hang my head in shame, and never be heard from again. I am a miserable failure in the eyes of at least one Huddler.

Silly me, I thought that when I pegged two first round busts in that column (Larry Johnson and Shaun Alexander - actually two top 6 picks to be exact), that was pretty good. Apparently not impressive enough.

Next season when I write the column (assuming DMD doesn't can my ass for the Moss incident) maybe I will take the well traveled route of so many fantasy writers, and play it safe. Why put myself in harms way? I can get every pick right if I never stick my neck out. That would be the easy thing to do. And so very helpful to those in need of useless advice.

I realize the wrtiter of that post mocking me probably had an abusive upbringing, or maybe he just can't get laid and wants to take out his frustration on an innocent bystander. But A-holes like that are not the ones I am writing for. I am writing for reasonable people, that expect reasonable accuracy, and understand that even the best of progosticators makes a bad pick now and then.

This was really quite pointless. I have no need whatsoever to defend myself. My record is right there for everyone to see. You can paint me an idiot for making one mistake and never read another word I type. But if you are trying to drag me down (or the Huddle for that matter) you are spitting in the wind.

By the way, that column was included in free content (why I have no idea) but nobody had to pay one cent for that horrible advise about not drafting Moss. Anybody that wants a refund for that please let me know ASAP and I will get right on it. :D

Dude, your self-pity would have a whole lot more impact if you were not sporting a "No Kornheiser" avi.

Seriously. When I was growing up, all our sports announcers were drunk most of the time ... and we loved 'em anyway, much in the same way you love your bartender: He's bringing me somthing I like.

All the wasted space on this board about "I don't like this announcer" and "This guy needs to be fired" and "This guy can't do his job" ... Um, if you're gonna support that kind of stupid, self-absorbed and pointless diatribe against people you don't know simply because the innernets give you the ability to do so, you don't have much room to complain when it's thrown back in your face.

So I take it people insult you with impunity and you take no affront? Good for you.

Rattsass has as much right to defend himself as any other member of this board. What is truly odious is Waterman's continual whining about Ratts erroneous pick. So the frick what. We pay for educated guesses, and we didn't even have to pay for that article. If Waterman disagrees with what the writer says, fine, say so and drop it, just don't beat the dead horse like a 13 year old who has discovered someone's middle name is "Marion". It's lipolymphohemangiomas hemihypertrophying juvenile.

Only people who don't have enough sack top make their own prognostications publicly will rake someone when their projections end up on the wrong side of the ledger. A good prognosticator does a bunch of research & finds facts that support their perceptions rather than just throwing out that a player significantly exceeds or comes up short on their ADP simply because they say so. And even armed with a bevy of facts, projections that are correct 60+% of the time (that is, within a +/- 10% of projected value) should be considered that the prognosticator is very credible & doing an outstanding job.

Don't worry about pricks who love to pick someone apart in hindsight, especially if it is based upon one prediction that landed on the wrong side. Chances are they either have a Fathead of the guy they are pimping in their bedroom and it is covered with their jizz, or they didn't have the balls to post their prediction themselves until the results were in hand after the season was well under way or later. You don't waste the time or effort on those Nancies.

On the other hand, if you're going to stick your neck out, you'd better grow a thicker skin. If this kind of stuff really bothers you this much, get out of the publicly posted projection business.

Happy New Year.

All this because Waterman has manlove for Moss?

Whoa.

Wait a minute, this is about Waterman? Is there anyone here who doesn't consider him anything other than a nut sucking buffoon? Damn! Get over it, rattsass. Seriously, who gives a flying #### what he thinks?

whoa, you advised against moss? and you still have a job? remarkable ...

seriously, even though waterman is abrasive, your response post is a pretty weak one where you defend yourself while trying to convince us that you don't need to defend yourself. you took a shot on calling moss a bust and missed it by a mile. so just tell waterman to f-off if he wants to ride you for a year about it or ignore him. regardless, you learn more each year and just keep plugging those picks out there. we are all big boys/girls and can decide for ourselves if what you spew out has any real value to us. do keep spewing, however.

Tell me ONE USEFUL THING that momo (Waterman) has contributed to this board.... Just ONE.

*crickets*

Exactly. Dude, dont sweat that pathetic waste of board space. Keep the articles coming. People that build fantasy teams based on what OTHERS think are the ones that need help. Those of us that read what others write, and form our OWN opinion are the ones that really have a clue about FF.

If I'm not mistaken, fantasy football usually revolves around picking more than one player on your roster. Waterman has spent the entire season talking about one Randy Moss. It wasn't going out on a limb when he thought that he could have a decent season. Personally, I've never trashed Moss on the boards. Most people love to hate him but I never have. But I didn't draft him in any leagues this year.

If anybody plays in a league where you start only one player, then please invite Waterman to play in your league.

That's not true. He spent the first half of the season expounding what a great QB Michael Vick was, right about up to about a month before he became Bubba's loveslave. Please try to keep important things like this straight.

This isn't just about Waterman though. It is about the continual parade of idiots that have continued to fill my e-mail with similar rants. And the morons who constantly blame others for their mistakes year after year.

I know it is pointless to try and educate the terminally stupid, but that is the mission God has given me. And though Waterboy may seem a hopeless cause, I had to try one more time to bring him a lesson in the reality of the situation. Time wasted. Space wasted. Oh yeah. Probably so. But it was just a chance I had to take.

You, like the rest of us, are not immune to saying dumbass stuff. And from time to time you will get a well deserved zooing.

Take it for what it really means, though. People read your column and enjoy it, even on the weeks when you sound like a momofektard moran. Keep it up :D

Going solely by Moss's history, and the fact that he didn't practice at all in the preseason, I actually benched Moss in Week 1 for other options.

So, I can certainly see where you were coming from, ratass. For 3 years in my dynasty league I had been holding him on the hope that he wasn't all done in the NFL, but my hope had run out around the same time you wrote that article.

I did the same thing. As an avid Pats homer.

And I traded him in preseason in another (keeper) league for Roy Frickin' Williams :D

Speak for yourself.

:D

There's a big difference in just saying dumbass things and actually being a dumbass.

Just pointing out the fact that we're all in the same boat. We don't know who is going to do what week to week. And to act like we can predict the future is just stupid. This isn't weather forecasting.

Maybe not, but I think you have a tremendous future ahead of you in Obituary writing.

I can reasonably predict what Vick will be doing next week...
