GO FRICKEN PACK GO!

What a game.

OK Giants, let's get it on.

Concern #1 for the Giants: Eli Manning in single digit temperatures.

Anyone have his record in games below freezing? Or even chilly games?

Forecast as of this second: 6 degrees, partly cloudy.

Here's what would concern me if I'm a Giants fan... Up by 4 points with 3 minutes and change to go, the Giants predictably call two runs up the middle, then a conservative throw on 3rd down. Coughlin ALWAYS makes the chicken $hit decision (i.e. plays to not lose rather than win). I hate coaches that don't have a killer instinct when a simple first down would ice the game for them. Coughlin would punt on 4th and one inch with a 4 point lead on his opponents' 37 yard line every time, no matter the situation. :D

So, I guess what I'm saying is that if by some chance the Giants get up in this game in the 4th quarter, Coughlin will sit on the lead and pin it on his defense to win the game for them. It's gutless, but the Giants' D is playing well enough to meet the challenge.

I agree, and it frustrated the hell out of me yesterday. I just KNEW Dallas was going to score on that last drive and then I'd be screaming for Coughlin's head, as I do at the end of every season. But then it didn't happen and I'm still in shock. We held them off.

The end of the Charger - Colts game was exactly the same. Very conservative playcalling by SD, giving the Colts the ball back with a chance to win it at the end.

I can maybe give Norv a pass on that one, considering his starting QB was on the sidelines. But I get the feeling the playcalling would have probably been just as conservative with Rivers back there. Still, it was Volek back there and not Rivers, so I'll give Norv a free pass on that one.

Giants CB Aaron Ross, who suffered a dislocated shoulder in a win against the Cowboys, still plans on playing against the Packers this weekend.

Ross said that he would be ready for the NFC Championship immediately after Sunday's game, but that seemed questionable at best. On Tuesday, however, sources close to Ross confirmed that he will attempt to play, although it's unclear for how long. Still, New York's injury-ravaged secondary needs all the help it can get.

I can't wait for this game! An oldschool battle in the frozen tundra between two old school teams with the winner going to the Superbowl.

As a Giants fan, I've always liked and respected the Packers. So, let's have a great game and may the best team win! :D

I agree. 2 historic NFL orgnizations going at it in a historic stadium.

I agree, there's really not much about this matchup to dislike. I'd be happy with either of these teams as a representative of the NFC in the SB. I'd just be happier with the Giants there. :D

We wouldn't want it any other way. Ryan Grant should be pumped playing against his former team. You guys had some good running backs I'm glad you parted with him.

The Packers o-line/protection for Favre will be key on Sunday. NY has a banged up DB corps, so you gotta figure they will be bringing the blitz a lot. As well as they played vs SEA, the line isn't always that solid. Colledge played like sh!t against the Cowboys when they brought pressure and was benched. RB blocking has to be there too.

If it gets rough I'm thinking Grant could run them out of the blitz, since Cowboys did the best on longer drives with a lot of carries for Barber. Hopefully Favre can pick them apart the same way.

Local TV station pulled Seinfeld episode because it is Eli's favorite.

So Seinfeld is sending him some DVD's. :D

January 18, 2008 -- Don't worry, Eli! Jerry Seinfeld's got your back.

The nasty general manager of the Fox affiliate in Green Bay said he's yanking Eli Manning's favorite TV show, "Seinfeld," while the Giants are in town. But have no fear - the funnyman told The Post yesterday he'll equip the quarterback with all the shows he needs.

"I'm going to send Eli a complete collection of 'Seinfeld' DVDs," the consummate New Yorker said, "and a partial collection of 'Hogan's Heroes' for inspiration!"

Jay Zollar of Fox's WLUK-TV in Green Bay announced to Packer faithful that the regularly scheduled broadcast of "Seinfeld" would be replaced on Saturday night to throw off the Big Blue star.

"Eli, no Seinfeld for you!" Zollar shouted into the camera on Wednesday night's local newscast, mocking the "No soup for you" line made famous by Seinfeld's "Soup Nazi."

"We don't want to give any comfort to the enemy whatsoever when they come into town," he said.

But Seinfeld didn't appreciate the attempted sack on Manning.

"You think I'm going to take that sitting down?" Seinfeld railed yesterday.

"I'm dispatching George Costanza to be the new traveling secretary for the Packers."

He was referencing a famous episode in which George - employed as the traveling secretary for the Yankees - convinces the team to switch to cotton uniforms, which shrink after they are washed, leaving the Bronx Bombers too restrained by their pinstripes to play.

Zollar, who failed realize that Manning can just as easily watch the show about nothing on DVD, is not nearly as crafty as The Post, which distracted Dallas Cowboy quarterback Tony Romo with a Jessica Simpson lookalike during last weekend's thrilling Giant win.

If Manning does decide to watch Fox in Green Bay on Saturday night, it's up to locals what he'll see.

The station has set up an online poll to determine what should replace "Seinfeld." So far, a special about former Packer head coach Vince Lombardi called "God, Family and the Green Bay Packers" is winning, with 60 percent of the vote.

Other options include a rerun of a local sports show, "Inside the Huddle," an infomercial for "The Good Feet Stone" starring former Cowboy running back Emmitt Smith and an episode of "M*A*S*H."

"We know laughter is good medicine, and we decided we're not going to give that to him," Zollar said.

But as any Giant fan will tell you, Manning will have the last laugh.

"We are going to take Green Bay and go on to the Super Bowl," fan Ed Gallardo said in Rockefeller Center yesterday. "They don't need 'Seinfeld' to win."

"Are you serious? That's awful," added Giant fan Greg Littley. "To thumb your nose like that at a team, that's deep-seated hate for one player.

Bad Karma ...this will now guarantee a Giant victory on Sunday :D

Has anyone noticed that Giants fans are probably the most level headed and polite fans on the boards here?

As a lifelong Giants fan, I would be able to accept a Green Bay win IF and ONLY IF Brett Favre goes on to beat the Patriots in the SB and ride off into the sunset on a white horse. I think it'd be one of the greatest stories in the history of the game.

I would agree with this. I have been a Favre fan since the beginning and could also live with him winning going against the Giants, just so long as he won the S/B. I would however like to see my Giants win just a little more though. Go Gints :D

Final injury update from the Giants

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Friday that nickel cornerback Kevin Dockery (hip flexor) didn't practice again on Friday and has been ruled out for Sunday's NFC championship game at Lambeau Field.

Coughlin was optimistic that his two starting cornerbacks, Sam Madison (abdominal strain) and Aaron Ross (shoulder), would be available.

Madison didn't practice on Friday, but that was as planned. Madison took part in most drills during the week and was given the day off Friday, Coughlin said. Madison was injured in the regular-season finale and missed both playoff games.

Ross practiced all week on a limited basis and is expected to play.

Practice notes: Wells, Blackmon practice

Per my esteemed colleague Pete Dougherty, center Scott Wells (glute) was back on the practice field this morning, and cornerback/return specialist Will Blackmon (foot) practiced again.

In other words, it appears your Green Bay Packers are about as healthy as possible for Sunday's NFC championship game against the Giants. Coach Mike McCarthy will provide an injury update in a couple of hours, but barring some sort of setback, it seems likely all seven players listed on the injury report will be removed or listed as probable.
