This looks to be a deal pretty close to done (not done yet). Garrett spent last night and today in Baltimore and is currently at the Ravens headquarters.

I don't really know much about him other then he was a backup QB for several years, spent two years as Miami QB coach and one year as DAL OC.

Seems young to be a HC.

Oh, and if this does hold true... which it probably will...... then I could see Phillips getting canned and Jerry Jones will start from scratch. Mike Singletary anybody? :D

JJ has made it pretty clear on numerous interviews, including another one this morning on Dallas radio, that Wade isn't going anywhere right now.

If so, that would be two seasons in a row where a coach with a 13-3 or better record got fired. The bar just keeps going up and up (except for the Lions).

Interesting that Garrett was supposed to the Dallas HC in waiting and Phillips just keeping it warm for him...guess that plan is out the window.

Or maybe it's all just a front for Garrett get on the inside and scout out the Ravens, after all, DAL and BAL do play later this year......... :D

The original story as reported by ESPN has been updated to include:

According to a Cowboys source, Dallas owner Jerry Jones has communicated to Garrett without knowing exactly what the Ravens' financial offer might be that he would match it if Garrett rejects the Ravens' offer.

Jones has said he would compete for Garrett, not only because he has helped transform Tony Romo into one of the league's best young quarterbacks, but because the Cowboys owner views Garrett as potentially being his next head coach.

"There's a feeling that if Jason talks to Jerry last, Jerry can convince him to stay,'' the source said. "Jerry can be a very persuasive guy.''
