Why do I hate the Patriots?

Anytime I see anything that has to do with the Patriots this year I vomit a little bit in my mouth and struggle getting it back down. I have never cheered against a team to lose against any random team as I have for the Patriots this year. I don't believe it is just because they are the best team this year and rooting for the underdog. I did not hate the Colts when they won it and never hated the niners or Steelers when they domintaed. I have some things that I have thought of that may be the reasons but I also see other people despise this team as well so please feel free to add.

1. Is it because they are the best ever? No I liked other teams that were dynasty's

2. Is it because Tom Brady seems to be an arrogant hollywood guy as opposed to a true NFL footballer?

3. Is it because Beilichick got coach of the year when with all that talent it did not take all that much coaching and guys like McCarthy got very little mention even though more deserving?

4. Is it because everyone is saying Brady is the best ever when I think it has so much to do with the supporting cast. Many other QB's could lead this team to a championship when there are many teams that if Brady was the QB they would not be any better.

5. Is it the players/coaches? Rodey Harrison is a cheapshot punk - Randy Moss is a useless waste of air - I do like Weleker but that is it.

6. Is it because of the cheating incident?

Why do so many people hate this team??? I have to admit they are maybe the best ever but why does that mean you hate them and want them to lose soooo bad???

could it be all the talk about renaming the trophy after this win...?

Kobe was on the team. If he is a great coach then he should be able to coach his way higher than barely 500.

We are talking about coaching so in my mind NFL does matter. Carrol COACHED in the NFL and the teams got worse.

You base it on if you win you must be a great coach. You want Wade Phillips over Lovie?

Any coach could coach the Pats to the Super Bowl.

So any coach that tried something different to what they are used to is a bad coach? Go tell that to Rick Pitino. Pete Carroll is a college coach and his success on the college level is what I am pointing to. Sure, he hasn't proved himself in the pros but that isn't what we are talking about. You are pointing to the fact (in your mind) that a great coach shouldn't be labeled great if the talent on his/her team is that superior. So tell me again why Pete Carroll isn't a good college coach or overrated in your mind? Please try.

And just because Kobe is on the team, you expect a top ranked team? Again, do you know who was on that team? And the performances that were given by Kobe's supporting cast? You really don't know the NBA. And that season you are pointing to, the Lakers were destroying the Suns in the playoffs before the Suns woke up. But you probably didn't remember that.

Again, your arguments are laughable because of your supporting material. Try again please.

As a diehard Cowboy Fan, the 2007 New England Patriots are

THE BEST TEAM I HAVE EVER SEEN STEP ON A FOOTBALL FIELD

It's like the perfect storm. They went out and put together an amazing team and if they keep it together, they will come close to doing it again next year (law of averages has to catch up sometime).

And the reason you hate them gbpfan1231 is the coach. He comes off as the biggest a$$hat to every coach a football team. Smart guy, damm good coach, but one look and all I think is "What a smug, petty, little f@ck". He just irritates me the same way Buddy Ryan did when he was in Philly.

With that said..... I'll still be rooting for the Giants next week to pull off one of the greatest SB upsets ever.

A great example that kills your argument once again is the current state of the Miami Heat. They have Shaq and Wade. So by your standards, they should be "well above .500." And they have Pat Riley, a HOF coach. Tell me please, how are they doing?

Shaq has been a shadow of himself for a couple years now,Wade was hurt the first part of the season and O neal is out now.Didnt they win a championship together a few years back?

Lamar Odom and Caron Butler arent exactly shabby players the Lakers had back then, but they had no center. They got rid of the wrong player.

Kobe was mad when they traded Caron as he was working out with him and knew he was about to explode. That team in 2005 was all Kobe scoring as at that point, his teammates gave him no reason to trust them in the scoring load night in and night out.

As for the heat, they are losing because of their depth. They have none compared to the championship team. And this team has no perimeter shooting also.

I guess that evens it out for Bynum,Kobe was too much of a ball hog, their biggest problem was him not sharing enough IMHO.He has skills no doubt.but sharing the spotlight isnt one of them.

The heat depth is definitely a problem, but Shaq has really declined the last 2 years,.Other than Wade and Shaq there isnt much on that team, off hand I can only think of role players like Haslem and white chocolate or players on their way out.I think Eddie is still there.

Back to the topic at hand,I still dislike the Patriots this year.

Wouldn't a great coach be able to fix that?

No depth and no perimeter shooting. Maybe a great coach would get more from his players.

I really never said Belichick was a bad coach. I basically said that gthis year he was not deserving of coach of the year because any coach could coach this team. A few years back probably deserved more kudos due to the team playing excellent with subpar role players.

I do hate the Pats!!!

You're showing that you don't know anything about the NBA. Phil Jackson knew at that point, Kobe was the only talent he had. All the scoring HAD to go to Kobe.

Even the best coach can't do anything with absolutely inferior talent.

we know you hate the Patriots, thats why you started this thread.

we're just trying to help you figure out why...

again, what you fail to realize, or maybe purposely ignored, is that BB built this team (for the most part)

and built the 01 team...so if he built it based on his philosophy, how could you possibly say that a few years back

he deserved COY, but now, after assembling the current team, he doesn't deserve it?

do you really believe that any player on the Patriots believes that any coach could coach their team?

if you think so, then this all go's back to my argument of ignorance...because you really wouldn't know

what you're talking about, but hating anyway....

Reasons I hate the Pats (in order):

1 - Their coach. Quite frankly, the guy is a total a$$. Might be a great coach, motivator, talent evaluator, etc.... but as a person he seems like a guy I would hate to actually know. Smug, arrogant, completely wrapped up in his own world, doesn't care what anyone thinks or does - he's gonna get his regardless. Yeah, that's someone I would like as a neighbor or boss...

2 - The fans. Someone earlier said it best - the absolute blind homerism of fans there is striking. And contrary to what their fans on this board may say, they folks I knew as a kid, and still know today absolutely HATE the success of other teams. Which is why they are so tough to deal with now. The success of the Red Sox and Pats after years of nothing makes them feel like they were owed this... and everyone else can f#ck off. It will be interesting to see what happens when the success ends...

3 - The region. I grew up in New England (not born there) and though there are some things I remember fondly, I physically cringe whenever I have to go back to visit. I have lived in every region of the country as an adult (sans midwest) and New England always feels so small and so adverse to change.... not in a Applachian hills sort of way, but it feels like I step out of a time machine whenever I go back or talk to someone from there. After living all over the country, New England would be dead last if someone put a gun to my head and asked me where I wanted to go...

4 - Brady. Perhaps its jealousy since I was a huge fan of Marino and frankly think Marino was a much better QB than Brady ever will be - but Brady has the rings and Marino doesn't...

I see that you are from Houston, and your bad mouthing New England????? No offense, but what does Houston have to offer over New England?

New England: change of seasons, which is pretty cool (even though winter sucks, to be honest).....Great beaches up and down the coast.....Great skiing if you like winter sports....great lakes.....Great outdoor activities....Great colleges and universities.......Not bad mouthing any part of the country, and you certainly are entitled to your opinion, must have had a bad experience here, as great part of the country, that gets a tremendous amount of visitors, as well as people relocating here.....but, I probably am biased, having been born here, moved about the country a bit, and settled back here....

I was born and raised in the midwest and moved to Connecticut for 4 years and was expecting to see and experience much of what you said and I absolutely hated the the area. I expected a nice scenic area with friendly, eductaed people.

The traffic was horrible. the people in general were far from educated. I can't believe how many idiots I met and how many times I would go into local establishments that were poorly run with spelling mistakes on menus and signs all over the place.

It seemed like you were either in a town that was a bunch of rednecks (yes worse than even Wisconsin) or it was a town of a bunch of rich pricks. Not much in between.

The people that you met would have the attitude like "I have my friends and I don't really need more". It was very difficult to meet people and get into there circle. I will admit that once you did then it was fine but it was difficult. I am also not a shy person and have had no problems meeting many people in other areas of the country.

Just my two cents on the east coast.

I live in Houston now (for a second time), but I'm not from here..... actually I have lived in so many places it's tough to say where I am "from". My comments against New England were primarily aimed towards the RI and southeast Mass area. That's where I lived from the age of 7 through 18. After that, I started off on my own and have lived in NY, FL, TX, CO, AL, NM, NoCA, and SoCa (two different states in my mind).

I would prefer to live in any of those states before having to move back to NE.... why? Bad weather, cost of living, too many people, not enough diversity, etc, etc.

I still have friends and family there so I am back once or twice a year, but in a word, RI s*cks. And before you say "Well, that's RI...." Don't forget you just trashed Conn, so if 2 out of 6 states in the region stink, I think we can safely assume the rest don't smell so good either.

Yeah, Connecticut really is nothing more than northern new york city.

Come up to (parts of) mass, or anywhere in NH, VT or Maine. Beautiful country, nice people. You can go from ocean to mountains to city all in the same day.

I've lived in FL, COL and NC, and visited CALI, TX and MI a few times each. I'll never live anywhere but NE! The rest are nice places to visit, but I'd never wanna live there.

Just my

hey thats cool...seems like you've seen a lot of the country, and determined what you like and dont like....give you credit for being able to move around....wish i had done more of that.......unfortunately, i reside in southeastern mass, near RI, so won't say anything...!!!! My dad actually lives in Houston and been down there several times to visit......and, just like you could never live here again, i could never live in Houston......too HOT....not close enough to the ocean..........I agree, NoCa and SoCa totally different.....

Good luck, and just defending my hometown area a bit....love New England and glad I moved back....but its not for everyone for sure

Hmmm. That's weird. I think I'd rather people bash the Patriots than Connecticut. I know it's expensive, and a there are a lot of snobs, but it's what I have called home for 42 years. I've traveled a lot, but there's no place I'd rather be. As for the guy talking about spelling errors on menus, and general ignorance around here, it's probably he who is ignorant.

my major experiences in CT are either the northern NY area(Greenwich etc) that's full of rich snobs like you said. Or Hartford, which is, well, Hartford. Or the casino area, which for the residents is just a crap hole (the actual towns in and around foxwoods and mohegan) with abandoned buildings and unemployment all over the place, etc.

I'm sure there are perfectly fine areas of CT, I just haven't been exposed to them...

my bad if it appeared I was trashing CT.....didn't mean to come across that way........got a lot of friends in CT, and there are definitely nice areas.....I try not to bash ANY part of the country or any city, as more than likely, will offend someone's hometown or area.......great thing about the States is that each part of the country has something different to offer......I travel a lot for work, and LOVE to see other parts of the countries that I normally wouldn't get a chance to see......!

I work out of a home office, but my company is based out of Pittsburgh...I travel there once a quarter, and always have fun in that city....got to attend a Steelers game....Pirates game.....wish Boston had similar set up as Pittsburgh, with the football and baseball stadiums near each other, and downtown.....yeah, Gillette is a great stadium, but not a heck of a lot near it....!!

Go Pats....18 and 0; one more to go!

nope...Mansfield...

I live in North Attleboro, I love this part of the country while I have not been to as many places as others I have visited FL, TX (Dallas area), and NV (although it was Vegas and I am sure the rest of the state is nothing like that). I have always said I would never want to live anywhere besides NE. Everyone I know who has moved away from here always comes back!
