MRI shows Tomlinson damaged knee further vs. Pats

:guns::brew:

“I'm not going to be able to play,” said Tomlinson, whose spot will be taken by the Ravens' Willis McGahee. “The Pro Bowl is not a concern. After not playing in the championship game, the Pro Bowl is the least of my concerns.”

I guess the two carries and one catch were worth almost losing the best RB in the game for and extended period, or maybe forever. He was pulled by the med staff and his return was "questionable". Part of the gamesmanship or sumpin' goofy like that. It would clearly have been better for the futer of the organization for him to go out there another series or two and completely shread the knee, making him unavaliable for next year, possibly, forever. :moon:

Though he "tested" it during the week before the game, he did no contact drills. The team did nothing different than how evasive the Pats are being this week on the condition of Brady's foot.

AND...

I am still amazed by how a few, two or three second shots over a three and a half hour game of LT sitting on the bench (with Sproles and Turner talking about what he was seeing, while STANDING on the sidelines while the offense was on the field) was enough evidence to castrate this young man the way he was by people that only saw the game on TV. :D

I still think it was because a bunch of ghey men wanted to see him don a mini-skirt and pom-poms to cheer on his fellahs. Sorry he disappointed y'alls.

AND...

On a more serious note, does this "first chink" in the armour of a man that has never missed a game (amazing durability for a RB) send up a red flag in terms of his FF draft value next year? I still think he is #1 overall, but that is MHO. TD and Rushing leader at the position two years in a row and now the offense seems to "get" how Turner runs it... I see him improving over this years numbers, though not matching from the year before (and maybe nobody ever will :D )

Doesn't surprise me one bit. What does surprise me is given what LT hs done for his career that anyone who understands football at all would think he would bench himself in such a big game for anything other than an injury that made him ineffective in comparison to what SD had available at RB.

It amazes me to no end that LT drew such criticism for benching himself.

i think the issue BB was not that he took himself out of the game ...i think the criticism is that he sat alone on the bench the whole time like a bump on a log

whether the criticism for that is warramted or not , i do not know

If he isn't playing & his knee is hurt, he can sit anywhere he damn well pleases. Geez - what does the guy have to prove, that he can walk on water?

The media took it and ran with it,next thing you know everyone and their mother decide to tear him down by a few clips. Its amazing how the media can alter your thinking in such a short time.

I completely agree. He is still the #1 draft choice in my book.

I wouldn't go that far right now. He's drawing perilously close to 30 yrs old, and he's gotten a ton of work over his career to date. He's getting to the point where reasonable questions can be asked as to how much he has left in the tank. That doesn't diminish his acheivement to date by any means.

Glad it wasn't a more serious injury, and I'm sure LT will be a deserving #1 pick in FFL drafts in August. Having said that, I'm not really sure why you felt the need to drag this story across the boards again, McBoog. We know how you feel. You can't teach a pig to sing, dude... People will draw their own conclusions based on what they want to believe. Apparently most people probably wouldn't take a second to put themselves in his shoes and imagine how it must have felt to not be able to play in the biggest game of his career.

Still, this post is more ::D:D:wacko: than anything...

cmon , lets not annoint him ...LT is super ...but he has shown some whiny moments and some immaturity as well

sitting the whole time on the bench alone looked pretty weak

thats my opinion

Yeah, he's human. Huh, imagine that.

As far as what he has done on the field, he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. If any player in the league has earned the right to act a little below perfect, he's the one - or at the very least he's on the short list.

I agree, this is a media-created controversy. Given how little the vast majority of the media has demonstrated that actually know about football, I'm surprised people would actually fall into their gambit.

Sitting alone was weak (however much sitting alone he really did), but how can anyone fault him for having a moment of weakness? His dreams of playing for a championship had just died. It's not like he's had a lot of practice dealing with that kind of situation.

How much time did you atcually see him sitting on the bench by himself?

If I'm in a re-draft I take Westbrook over anyone...

In a dynasty I'm taking Peterson.

Team leaders lead by example. If I am coming off the field and I see a team leader sitting there like he just watched Champ starring a young Ricky Schroeder it would bug me. Emmitt played with a sperated shoulder to carry his team to a division title..Who needs 2 knees ?

At the very least he should have went over to Sproles and maybe Turner just to tell them what to look for and what not. LT should be able to give them deeper insight than anyone else, right?

Anything would be better for his team then having them see a dejected team leader. Plus they were hanging with the Pats. Its like he had no interest in the game unless he was in it..God have mercy on his soul.

He has given his all to this team over the years. He's getting up there in age and there he is again, on the outside looking in. But this time - its not because his teams sucks and could not make the playoffs - its because he is hurt and cannot do a dang thing to change the game. Sure - he could be a chearleader, but sometimes that type of emotion is hard to find.

I am sure that you've had disappointing moments, Whomp.

I keep on thinking about a game this season in which Rivers was struggling. He threw a pick and went to the sidelines to sit next to LT... LT then got up and stormed off, as if to scorn his qb...

Playoff time rolls around and Rivers plays with a busted up knee that he had to have a quick fix surgery earlier that week just so he could suit up and help his team out.

Dejected as he was, he still could have tried to mentor or help out Turner and Sproles. He's the leader, he could have found a way to help out on the sidelines. He took on the role of immature child and sulked the game away...

LT sure is classy come playoff time.

Who do you take over LT? AD? He missed more time last year, in his first year in the NFL, than LT did. Westbrook, same. I dont think you'll have to worry about a mentally diminishing LT until they at least go to the SB. Physically, its hard to say, but when LT turned it on last year he looked an awfull lot liek the LT we've known all along.
