Continuing with hunches here:

Jared Allen or Justin Smith to the Jags. Pressure is what the Jags D lacked the most. It was evident against the Pats in the divisional round. They had the right game plan, but lacked the pressure from the front 4 like the Giants proved is needed.

Thx - pretty good recap (even if it reads like it was written by Emmit Smif at times). D Anderson and Moss by far the best FAs avail......overall really not much of a crop in general though, IMO.

Team-wise, Colts need to work on re-signing their OLs. Wouldn't mind seeing them make a play for a 2d or 3d tier WR either, as they're thin (esp with Harrison iffy).

Michael Turner to Cleveland after Jamal Lewis' contract demands are too high/long. Just a hunch on my part...

Didn't Lewis already sign a two year deal?

I highly doubt KC lets Jared Allen go anywhere.

Eagles make a move for Javon Walker on the cheap so Denver at least gets something for him...

Turner gets franchise tag (I haven't heard them franchise anyone)

Derek Anderson signs with Miami

Rex Grossman signs with Tampa

TJ Duckett signs with Steelers

Jamal lewis re-signs with Cleveland for 1 more year

Since when can you get franchise tage when you are an unrestricted free agent?

I doubt Walker goes anywhere. See Bronco Billy's last 500 posts on the subject.

Turner will not stay in San Diego, not with a capable backup in Sproles.

Derek Anderson stays in Cleveland. I'm thinking a three year deal. If he does end up anywhere, I think it will be Baltimore.

Why would Gruden want Grossman? Oh yeah, he signs every mediocre qb in free agency.

I highly doubt that happens, even if it's possible. Why would they do that?

I wanted them to sign him prior to last year. He would be a perfect fit as a short-yardage back.

Isn't Najeh already filling this role for you guys? He seems to be at least as good a back as Duckett at this point. Probably cheaper too.

I don't know what Najeh's contract status is or anything.

Wow, is your name Steve Doerschuk? Because that's basically what he's saying today.

Nice potential call there. Got lottery numbers for me? Better PM those to me.

I don't know why this clown's comparing Lewis to Peterson when it should be Peterson to Joe Thomas. Anyone think the Browns end up 10-6 with AP instead of a solidified O-Line?

As many problems as CLE has had with their offensive line, I think the pick of Joe Thomas not only worked out well, but will probably work out for longer had they gone for RB instead. IMO, the reason that Lewis did as well as he did was thanks to an O-line that finally came together and more importantly was not ravaged by injuries for the first time in several years.

Lewis ran well but the blocking was there. It is not like he magically became faster and stronger after leaving BAL. I think it would be a classic mistake to now think they need to shower Lewis with cash for a multi-year contract. He is turning 29 this year and probably has one more good season but after that, you do not see 245 pound RBs last too far into their 30's if they even get there.

I am a little surprised to see CLE apparently shopping Derek Anderson around but it would not neccessarily be a bad thing to let Lewis go somewhere else to break down.

what about Brady Quinn?...

also..I've seen his last 500 posts on Walker not going anywhere...but it doesn't mean he isn't off the block..

if the drat could be done over again, I'd still take Joe Thomas.

Brady Quinn isn't that expensive cap hit wise. He sits on the bench.

This does not surprise me anymore. A couple months ago, yeah. The more I reflect on the Brownies season, the more it seems to me (and it's been speculated around here before) that their success was more a result of the cast around Anderson than Anderson himself. Edwards and Winslow made spectacular plays all season long and have really matured as playmakers. The O-line was vastly improved and the running game was sound. Chudzinski has a really nice offense rolling there.

It seemed like down the stretch, after everyone had a good look at Anderson on film, he came up short every time the game was on the line. I'm not digging through stats, so everyone feel free to show me how wrong I am, but the Pittsburgh game (shoulda won) and last Bengals game (needed to win) come to mind. Those were big games where Anderson couldn't get it done.

Then there's the Quinn factor of course. Who FWIW, has looked pretty good when we've seen him. I know, I know, preseason.

Just my perception of Anderson. I think if he goes elsewhere, he's not as effective.

Wow!

I knew it improved but had no idea so much.

CLE sacks allowed:

2006 - 52

2007 - 19 (and 6 were in week one)

Of course there was a change from Fry to Anderson last year but in two starts in 2006, Anderson was sacked seven times. That's called O-line improvement to the extreme.

And I would agree, not only did the blocking allow for a running game (finally) but that the receivers had some great catches along the way - particularly Edwards who was flat out astounding at times.

And worse yet, when the Browns needed him most, Anderson only threw for 2 TDs over his last three games and only averaged about 190 yards in each with five interceptions in those games.
