Randall
Packers interested? Panthers released LB Dan Morgan and OG Mike Wahle. Morgan said all the right things since the season ended, but Carolina didn't need him anymore with Jon Beason entrenched in the middle. If Morgan is healthy enough to pass a physical, he could be a nice addition for a team willing to give him a shot. He's currently recovering from Achilles surgery. Wahle, once a big ticket free agent pickup, will either be replaced by Geoff Hangartner or Justin Hartwig. Source: Rock Hill Herald
Sturphy
Packers interested? No doubt. I hope so. Wahle would fit right back in.
'canes2004
Dan Morgan just couldn't shake that injury bug. Coming out of college, I really thought he would have a really nice NFL career. Just wasn't to be.
irish
Other Panther news... Panthers QB Jake Delhomme says he expects a big effort from WR Dwayne Jarrett in 2008. "He's got the ability, that's easy to see, and last year was honestly a redshirt year for him," Delhomme said. "I have no doubt he's going to come to play this year." Jarrett is going to have to show he is dedicated if he wants any chance at starting opposite WR Steve Smith. Don't draft him this summer unless he is announced as the starter. piratesownninjas
Packers interested? I hope not. Morgan doesn't have a place to play on this team... No way in hell he takes over for Barnett. And Wahle, he was one of my favorite players for a while, and I was sad to see him go a few years ago, but this offense rolled last year behind a young line that is continuing to mature. I think Wahle coming in could mess with the chemistry.
'canes2004
He'll get invited to camp somewhere. Any contract that he signs will hinge on him passing a physical (duh) and will probably be loaded with clauses tied to playing time and other incentives. He's a good player, and I'd like to see him play somewhere, I just don't see it being in Green Bay.
Bronco Billy
Packers interested? Panthers released LB Dan Morgan and OG Mike Wahle. Why would GB be interested in either? The Packers had the third least sacks in the NFL last year, and Ryan Grant gained more rushing yards than any RB in the NFL other than LT in the second half of the season. I'd say their O-line is nails right now. You don't screw something like that up. As far as Morgan, why would GB want a perpetual injury playing for them? Fatman
I don't see GB being too interested in Wahle...Colledge has hopefully turned the corner at LG and, if he can stay healthy, the brass really likes Coston at RG. Spitz will continue to rotate in as needed. They could be interested for depth, as Wahle now has some experience zone blocking that last season in Carolina. But I'd be pretty surprised. Bill Swerski
Morgan has suffered multiple concussions over his career and, IIRC, the symptoms from his last one lingered for some time. For his (and his family's) sake, I hope that he retires.

I agree, it would be surprising as an addition. But, that said, we could use the depth at Guard. And he does have experience playing for the Packers and in the zone blocking scheme. Colledge was only starting at the end because of the Coston injury. I hope he sticks, but from what I was reading, he was riding the pine if Coston could go. Either way, it was a combo of those 3 guys all season long and Coston and Spitz were both dinged up. Hardly anything concrete or stable, despite the success. I don't see any reason at all that Wahle couldn't come in and be a starting guard for us. He's a pro-bowler and a stud and always a guy you'd like on your team. Uh.. unless you're the Panthers I guess? I haven't read details why, but surely his release is because of the huge contract they gave him? Maybe we could get him cheap? Probably not. And in light of recent comments from TT about resigning all our free agents (love that btw), it's even more unlikely.

In the big games I don't think the line blocked very well (Dallas and the Giants). And there has been talk about abandoning the zone system eventually. Swiss Cheezhead
I could be wrong, but I don't think the Packers staff is totally happy with their guards. Very few sacks and some second-half production from Grant is great, but it doesn't tell the whole story. I believe there was a JSOnline story late in the season that talked about the need for the guards to improve their consistency -- and I think it basically said nobody is "entrenched" as a starter in '08. Can somebody correct me if I'm wrong?

It wouldn't be surprising at all for TT to draft more guards. Signing a guy like Wahle, would be more surprising I think.

Can somebody correct me if I'm wrong? Everything I read during the season said that they were excited about the prospects of Coston if he could stay healthy, something he was never really able to do. After Colledge was benched, he seemed to respond better after the last third of the season. I would agree that nothing is set in stone for 08, but I'd still be surprised if TT went after Wahle. Just my gut, nothing else.
budlitebrad
Wahle doesn't really fit the youth movement TT has been going for, but he's only 30 years old. I don't see TT signing him unless it's for cheap.

Sturphy
I think you Seahawks fans are going to be very happy with Wahle. He's a stud. I don't know how much he has left in the tank, but he might help you forget about Hutch. And he's with Holmgren again, who drafted him, so you know he fits the offense. SEA running game just went up a notch in my book.
