tonyr0802
Keyshawn Johnson told Yahoo! Sports that he is seriously considering a comeback."The challenge of helping to turn a team around, to help get it to the next level, that gets my competitive fires burning. I have the itch, and right now I'm trying to decide how strong that itch is," Johnson said. Bill Parcells has reportedly already offered Johnson a spot on the Dolphins, and the Titans and Raiders have also expressed interest in the past. Guess that about sums it up
MrTed46
Guess that about sums it up Smart move by Parcells. Bring a veteran in during the re-build times just to have a body that can make catches and has been there before. I know he sucks but considering what he is trying to do with the 'fins I dont see this as a bad move. Keep key there for a yr or two and then hes gone. Just don't go back to the past on ESPN and bring Michael Irvin back.
CaptainHook
Why would Keyshawn come back to play for the Dolphins or Raiders? Both are rebuilding with young quarterbacks. Both are going to stink. The Titans are at least a play-off caliber team, and Lord knows Vince needs big targets with his accuracy issues. None of those teams make sense for a comeback for MeShawn. kpholmes
Why would Keyshawn come back to play for the Dolphins or Raiders? Raiders aren't really in need of a Vet WR. Curry and Porter have been there for quite some time, while they might not be elite talent - I can't see them benefiting from a veteran like Keyshawn. Will he get any playing time as a WR or remain a kick returner?
Riffraff
Why would Keyshawn come back to play for the Dolphins or Raiders? He'll make 10 to 20 times as much $$$ as he does as a commentator. Commentator jobs will always be there. NFL gigs won't be.

You honestly see him signing for more than the veterans minimum? I don't. He had a pretty good gig with ESPN. I can't see the pay being that disproportionate. Donutrun Jellies
If Parcells signs Meyshawn out of the lazyboy, can Vinny Testeverde be far behind? Have a good season, phins fans!

I can't see the pay being that disproportionate. Here's an article on how much sportscasters make: http://www.onlinesports.com/sportstrust/sports45.html I figure Keyshawn is still on the low end since he's fairly new. He could be making comparable to the league minimum already. I do see your point about the pay not being that different. I see him getting a $2mil to $2.5mil per season, not the league minimum. He'd be doing the Dolphins a "favor" and they'll pay him a little extra for it. Parcells knows what he makes now and will compensate. He's the money man now, not just the coach. Big John
I'll take the Veterans Mnimum. What is it about $750,000? As having 10 or more years experience, it is indeed $750,
Skilly
Jeez Parcells. How about figuring out a way to develop some new blood, instead of retreating back to all the old familiar faces. Then again, I hear Mark Bavaro isn't doing doing much these days. Key has had a good career, and a ring to go with it. He needs to stay retired. Riffraff
really. We'll see I guess. Thanks for the link too, it was an interesting read. Do understand: the contract could be $2mil signing bonus and $2mil over 2 years for cap value. Not all that drastic, but still a $4mil contract over 2 years. Before reading that link, I thought the pay was much lower for a commentator. Of course, the commentators that do play-by-play or extra draft/sportscenter/specials get paid more than those that just commentate pre-game shows. Perhaps MeShawn misses that NFL paycheck? Agreed that TEN might be a good fit for him. In the unlikely event that Moss were to hit the FA market, I'd expect them to be all over him as well. Hitman
Before reading that link, I thought the pay was much lower for a commentator. It's probably gone up quite a bit too as the most current data in the link is from ten years ago.

I just don't see Key returning to a rebuilding or non-contending team.
Whiskey Pimp
yeah, so I bet the pay is even closer now. I just don't see Key returning to a rebuilding or non-contending team. The initial post had this quote "The challenge of helping to turn a team around, to help get it to the next level, that gets my competitive fires burning. I have the itch, and right now I'm trying to decide how strong that itch is," Johnson said. so it seems to me like Key would in fact return to a rebuilding or non-contending team. spanky08
The dolphins need a veteran WR in their roster right now, hopefully he shows the ropes to Ted Ginn maybe ted might be able to learn from maybe he just might show what ppl think that he will never do. Hopefully Ginn explodes next season cause that is what the dolphins need, i mean they got bombed on by alot of critics for picking Ginn over Quinn and now look they have a very bad QB situation. But all those are maybes. But i think bringing Keyshawn out of retirement and into the doplhins organization would be great and hopefully he is in top shape cause he is a little old so hes going up against alot younger guys but hes tall and a great endzone target i think Edited February 25, 2008 by spanky08
