irish
I forget where but I heard talk around the NFL that Pennington could be traded or cut altogether. Do you think the Jets would make such a move and where would Chad go? How about the Vikings? I know that the coaching staff was pretty pleased with Jackson's progress for the Vikes last year and some think of him as a green version of McNabb. However, would they bring Pennington in to give Jackson more time and someone solid that knows the game to learn from. Playing in a dome could also help Chad and his weak arm be a bit more effective possibly as well, no?
Chief Dick
The dumbass Chiefs will pick him up. Mark my words.
irish
The dumbass Chiefs will pick him up. Mark my words. You know what, sorry to say it but I can totally see that happen as well. I mean Pennington just might be an upgrade over Huard and Croyle.
Rovers
He won't be released. Traded, maybe. Unlike Kendall, Coles and Vilma, he will play the good soldier and sit on the becnch without whining, but could well ask for a trade privately with the FO. I think the Jets view him as a very solid backup QB, and would like to keep him. I also think Pennington knows that he could well win back the starting job if Clemens gets injured or suffers through a long bad streak. I thought Vilma was gone after his whiny act last year, denying he was injured when he was. Coles may have talked himself off the team now too. Chad is a tough S-O-B. Mentally and physically. I can see him staying, and in fact think he will stay.
Jackass
I'm not sure why the jets would want to get rid of pennington unless they have someone better to bring in as a backup/ possible starter. Relying on Clemens to be the starter without a backup plan would be pretty dumb IMO.
peepinmofo
Have they already said Clemens is the starter next year? Didnt Clemens start a few games and then get benched for Pennington? I dont recall...

I would think you'll have another year of NYJ QBBC, with coaches and fans wondering if the guy on the bench could possibly suck less than the guy on the field ... As for the Vikes picking him up, I think that's a step back for the franchise. They'd be better off staying with TJackson and hoping he develops or going after McNabb -- but Pennington? Meh. He doesn't help anything. You go from hoping Travaris can be above average to knowing Pennington won't be better than slightly below average. Yep, it's stability, but it's not a path to the playoffs. Would KC grab him thinking he'll turn the Chiefs into the Sunshine Band?
BumpNRun
How about him ending up in Miami?

irish
Ive never liked pennington he has a weak arm, and just i dont know seems weak in the mind too, but i think the jets are going to stick with him Easy now, Chad may have a weak arm but he's FAR from having a weak mind. He's as mentally strong and intelligent as any QB in the league.

Kid Cid
Not trying to start a flame war, but I don't think it makes a difference if Clemens or Pennington is their starter. The best post so far. The Jets have to be thinking QB early in the draft. There is no future with what they have and with a rebuild coming a quick fix like McNabb will be done by the time they have the rest of the pieces in place.
