rajncajn
From the Falcons board quoting NFL Sirius If Brady Quinn was a possibility to the Falcons in a trade for D Hall. Pat Kirwin and Tim Ryan said Brady Quinn would get a chance to prove his worth in a Cleveland Brown uniform. Derek Anderson will have to produce this yr and must perform to a B+ std or he would be out due to a $5 mil. roster bonus. They both said in talking to Phil Salvage this week Phil clearly stated Quinn would not be traded this yr. They stated it was unlikely D Hall would leave because we couldn't get someone to replace him for his trade/draft pick value. They also stated D Hall for B Quinn was not considered an even trade by NFL std's. They said a CB for a QB of their stature is not an even trade. The QB has more value. Thoughts....... I wanted Quinn but it's not going to happen this yr
Patsfan39
Wow, Brady Quinn(I am assuming) for Deangelo Hall. I guess Hall would replace Bodden(Shaun Roders). Quinn would be a nice fit in ATL. They would have some flex. in the draft. They could trade the pick, or draft a top DL or OL

CaP'N GRuNGe
I thought the Packers were going to get him to replace Favre.
MikesVikes
I thought they were positioning to take a QB in the draft. Especially after adding Turner and taking care of their backfield.
darin3
I thought they were positioning to take a QB in the draft. Especially after adding Turner and taking care of their backfield. Well, they could get rid of - what many think is - a cancer on the team (Hall), get a top QB prospect (Quinn), allowing them to address another need with their high draft pick. I too think it makes too much sense for it to actually happen. Question is, though, does Cleveland want to add a guy like Hall? Are his troubles totally linked to simply being on the Falcons? The Browns must think so, if this is true.

muck
Doesn't make sense. ATL should have to give up more ... maybe toss their 2nd rounder in there too?

sacosud
For D. Hall? It's been on local sports talk radio. Not going to happen!!!!!! Browns would have to be pretty stupid in my opinion to do that and with all the deals they have made I don't think the numbers would work. Why stupid???? Anderson's meltdown late in the season has Savage wanting to keep both QB's around for at least another season. Savage said on 1460 "The Fan" that there would be no way he would trade Quinn or Anderson for at least 1 season. The Browns believe they can win right now and giving up all their day one picks seems to suggest they are not sold on the guys in this draft, at least worth what they would have to give up. Quinn was taken late in the first and I'm not sure Falcons would be getting value for Hall anyway. Who would be the backup in Cleveland???? Dorsey?????? Do go get Cpep????? maybe Harrington????? Those options seem like a step back to me. Edited March 8, 2008 by sacosud
LooGie
wont happen. not sure if this has already been addressed or is a closed book, but I dont see it. I dont see either team willing to go for it. Quinn is not worth that yet, to anybody, but the Browns.

The Browns must think so, if this is true. Heck, the Falcons could even throw in a 2nd rounder (they have 2 of them) or a 3rd rounder to sweeten the deal. That leaves them with the #3 overall and at least one 2nd rounder to continue to fill other needs.
loaf
From Hey, Tony! Q&A with the beat reporter: Q: Hey, Tony: I;m really, really confused about what Savage and the Browns organization have been doing these past couple days in free agency. I think it;s great we got Shaun Rogers and Corey Williams, they;ll bolster the D-line for sure and stop the run, but we have no picks in the first three rounds. And why did we sign Anderson? Why didn;t we just max tender him to see if we could get value in him which I don;t think he;s worth in a first and third round pick, but put pressure on him to perform and see if he is the 'guy' we;ve been waiting for in Cleveland. I just think Savage acted too quickly with Anderson, am I not correct? A: Hey, Mike: Phil Savage told Peter King of SI.com that Anderson 'basically saved all our jobs' last year. That explains a lot. Also, Savage was horrified at the thought of having Brady Quinn begin the season as the starting QB and then suffer an injury. He felt such a scenario would sabotage the season. and from another reply: Please accept this fact: Both quarterbacks (DA & BQ)will be with the Browns in 2008. Riffraff
Quinn makes good insurance that Anderson isn't a 1 year wonder.
Skilly
That's a ridiculous proposition even by fantasy standards. I heard some doofus on WFAN propose that the Jets send T. Jones and the DT Robertson (sp?) to the Browns for Quinn. Yeah, that makes really good sense, considering the Browns already have a better rb in Lewis and now a better DT in Rogers. Quinn is not going anywhere.
Sox
If the Browns were truly sold on Anderson, you'd think they would have offered more than a three year contract.
loaf
If the Browns were truly sold on Anderson, you'd think they would have offered more than a three year contract. Q: Hey, Tony: Why risk signing Anderson to such a big contract if you don't really care if he goes? If a trade doesn't happen, this will turn ugly. Why risk it? A: Hey, Ronnie: Anderson made the signing easier by agreeing to a three-year contract. The Browns are betting Anderson can improve on his 2007 performance. After the 2008 season, they still have the option of trading him or permanently handing him the offensive reins and trading Quinn.
Sox
In which case they would have to ante up and pay him much more than they would than if they had locked him up long term. The Browns aren't sold on Anderson yet, plain and simple.
Bronco Billy
The Browns aren't sold on Anderson yet, plain and simple. Not for the long term, for sure. The 3 year deal allows them to be flexible with Quinn's progression while trying at the same time to progress as a team. That 3 year deal was all about a stop gap that provides continuity while Quinn moves along his learning curve. If the deal were for 5 years or more, I'd give some credibility to the Quinn trade rumors. Edited March 12, 2008 by Bronco Billy
