sundaynfl
I have an annual get together at our house each year and usually make a corn beef and cabbage, boxty and soda bread served with Irish butter and some various Irish Cheeses. The weather is too nice here, so I am also smoking a pork shoulder for people who may not like corned beef... Anyone else "cook it up" for St. Patty's Day? I used to hit all the pubs on SPD, but hate fighting (literally ,sometimes) the crowd on amateur day!
isleseeya
probably some spaghetti and meatballs , some red chianti and then some cannoli's I wish all the Irish Huddle Brethren a great and safe day with lots of cabbage , corned beef and Mylanta
twiley
The past 4 years I was usually out in the trenches with the masses at the bars. First drink was poured around 7:30am and didn't stop until around 3am the following day. Pure Panic. This year, I'll be hanging with my wife, 8 month old son, and entire family while braising a corn beef with all the traditional fixings (cabbage, potato, etc). I won't however be enjoying the random pics and text messages from my friends who will be partaking in the usual ways. A definite step back from years past but my liver will be thankful. Yeah, the past 4 years were also out in the trenches for me. The first 3 were in California, usually starting around 11am with a few buddies of mine. Great few Irish bars in the area I lived so we bounced around, listening to Irish bands, drinking Irish beer and shootin'. Last year was spent here in Austin, wrapping up SXSW week, which was already crazy. Ended up getting the boot from a bar due to a few too-sloshed people in our group. We got home and I expected to see it was 1 or 1:30 am... nope, 9:30pm. This year, who knows. Since it's on a Monday it'll probably be pretty tame. Probably go to a local Irish pub with some buddies and drink a few. Not drinking beer right now so I'll have to improvise. I did, however, purchase a green Cubs hat w/ four-leaf clover. I figure I'll need it for more than just St. Patty's Day.

Which also means my Dogtown days are over until it lands on a Friday again. 1 day to party, 1 to recover.

SheikYerbuti
I'll consider the day a success if I do at least 3 of the following: 1. Drink 12 pints of Guinness 2. Get in a fight with a random stranger 3. Drop kick a leprechaun 4. Steal said leprechaun's gold 5. Win a IFOCE sanctioned corned beef eating contest

Flying in at 11am (to Ontario), going to see a project up there, and then headed down to the OC to bounce from bar to bar with ATaM and a few others. P.S. I'm gonna have beer. darin3
Cheater It's been authorized by the Mrs. E2A: Because, as weigie pointed out, you are actually allowed to indulge in your "vice" that you gave up for Lent on Sundays. I haven't had any beer on Sundays, so having a couple... or 4... or 14... on St. Patty's... well, that's fine for a non-Catholic Edited March 13, 2008 by darin3
