Davis Mistake-Prone

According to one of his teammates, 49ers TE Vernon Davis made more mistakes in 2007 than he had ever seen an NFL starter make.

If Davis had trouble learning the offense last year, he is going to find it harder learning new OC Mike Martz' playbook, which is very comprehensive. Tight ends have never found much success in Martz' offense and that trend could continue with Davis. Draft him as a TE2 for now, but don't expect him to be lights out this year.

Jets Could Draft Flacco

According to the New York Daily News, there is a strong possibility that the Jets will use their second-round pick in this year's draft on a quarterback like Delaware QB Joe Flacco.

The article sites other quarterbacks as well, but mentions Flacco as a legit pick. Flacco's draft stock has gone through the roof since the Combine and he is likely to go early in the second-round.

Parker Running On His Own

It's being reported that Steelers RB Willie Parker has been running on his own at his home in North Carolina this offseason.

Parker, who is rehabbing from a broken fibula, is expected to be running full speed soon, but will likely be limited in the team's offseason program. While he was able to rack up the yardage (1316-rushing yards in 15 games) in 2007, he only saw the redzone twice. He is still a borderline RB1/RB2, but he is going to have to rush for more touchdowns to keep his owners happy.

Bradley The "Go-To" Receiver?

It's being reported that Bears WR Mark Bradley believes he will be the team's "go-to receiver" this season.

The fact that Bradley has a real shot at being the team's starter doesn't say much for the competition behind him. WR/KR Devin Hester and WR Brandon Lloyd are also in the mix, but neither has the so-called "talent" Bradley has. Unless the quarterback position and Bradley take a sudden turn for the better, don't worry about him for now. WR Marty Booker figures to be the team's starter on the other side.

Lions Looking At Running Backs

Lions HC Rod Marinelli had recently stated that the team is very interested in drafting Tulane RB Matt Forte or Central Florida RB Kevin Smith.

It's no secret that the team plans to use a draft pick on a running back, but which pick and which player they like the best is still not known. RB Tatum Bell still figures to be the slight favorite at the start of training camp, but we doubt he can hold onto the starting job for very long. With the team's new balanced offensive philosophy, whichever back they draft should garner some future dynasty value.

Browns/Winslow Close To Deal?

It's being reported that Browns GM Phil Savage and TE Kellen Winslow's agent will meet at the owners' meeting this week.

Winslow's 2007 season catapulted his fantasy value as a top-5 tight end in the league going into 2008. If we are the Browns, we would include some incentive clauses as Winslow has a history of breaking down as the season wears on. But draft him as a TE1 for your squad and you will be very happy.

The San Fran organization seems to have no clue. Two seasons ago it was on the up and up, and now they bring in Martz whose play calling tendencies will likely diminish the role of the two most talented players on their offense?

Do we really need the player news updates on the forum everyday?

I would think so. However, I would agree with you as I usually don't put it up everyday. Does that weird man have the gun to your head again forcing you to read things you don't want to? Damn him!!!

Martz may be a moran, but he's not completely stupid....

Davis will be split out wide or in the slot.........something...

but he needs to make strides on his own...

Seriously, for all the long winded posturing and whining this guy does, this is one thing that actually has some value.

I like it. Whats the problem?

The problem is that all these fine upstanding young mans are trying to run certain people off the boards. It's how they get their jollies. So every thread started by certain people require slamming.... every post requires a negative response. Year from now no one will even remember..... meanwhile, it has become really boring to say the least.

No, we should just rehash last night's CSI show instead. Anyone would think this was a football board.

CSI-Maimi and CSI-New York suck.

I only watch the original CSI and my favorite is the NCIS version.

I bought the Vernon Davis hype until I watched him play a few games. He's brutal to watch. I don't know if it's a reflection of the talent around him or the play calling, but he doesn't look like a playmaker.

as a ff site, anything new and accurate is appreciated. some leagues opperate year round and decisions regarding rosters are required. no harm in posting info and then seeing other sources confirm or refute said info.

while a little confrontational, the point is dead on..... we all have a choice in what we read.

ahaha don't get me wrong, I agree...

but he does have the talent to get things done and if anyone can bring it out of him...it's Martz...

I personally think Davis is soft...and I won't draft him, but I still think he's the best offensive weapon the Niners have in the passing game..
