Hat Trick Posted April 1, 2008 Share Posted April 1, 2008 Kansas City Fires Carl Peterson Names Head Coach Herm Edwards as Head Coach/GM April 1st, 2008, 4:05:33 AM Kansas City Chiefs Owner Clark Hunt announced on Tuesday Morning That He has Fired GM Carl Peterson and will name Current Head Coach Herm Edwards as Head Coach/GM Effective as of March 31th 2008 Carlk Hunt: After 19 years as GM Of the Chiefs I Felt it was in the best intrest of the team at this time to fire GM Carl Peterson as we are heading into a new direction there for the 1st time i feel that its in the best instrent of the team to name a inhouse person as the GM And i am glad Herm has accepted to take on as Head Coach/GM as i feel with Herm we are headed in the right direction to lead this team back to the super bowl for the 1st time in over 30 yrs and with that said i'll let Herm comment Herm Edwards: Well 1st of all i would like to think Mr.Hunt for this job and i will do the best i can to make sure this team gets back to the Super Bowl as its been a long time i will say that clark has giving me the go ahead as head coach/gm to make all pesonnal dicsions including coaches and everything to get this franchise back to elite status like i said when i 1st took the job as head coach 2 yrs ago we have a plan and the plan is in place on how we want to build this team its like a puzzle and it dose not get truned around overnight useally to build the team in the NFL It useally takes 3 to 5 yrs but the plan is in place and we going to do the best job we can to win as this is what the sport is all about to get that Championship so with that said again i like to thank Mr Hunt and rest assured i'll get us back to the super bowl as a new era is about to begin in Chiefs Football Thank You www.kcchiefs.com Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

As a Chiefs fan I have accepted the fact that Peterson will lose his job only when his coffin hits the clay......and maybe not even then. Well he has said on more than one occasion during the offseason that he will not step down and will fulfill his contract through this year, then he's willing to walk away.
