Guest Chappy
http://49ers.com/pressbox/news_detail.php?...ction=PR%20News Gore Completely Healed 49ers RB Frank Gore says he is 100% recovered from a high ankle sprain that slowed him down last year. Gore said new OC Mike Martz' playbook reminds him of the offense Chargers HC Norv Turner ran in 2006, which was his best year to date. With Martz declaring he wants to build the offense around Gore, expect Gore to go in the first-round in most drafts this summer. | April 03, 2008 9:16 AM --------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...8040203856.html Redskins To Use Run-First Offense According to Redskins HC Jim Zorn, the team may begin this season with a run-first offense. This means big things for RB Clinton Portis, who the team figures to use heavily until QB Jason Campbell gets acclimated with the playbook. Draft Portis as a legit RB2 and you won't be disappointed. | April 03, 2008 11:11 AM ----------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.miamiherald.com/616/story/480992.html Ginn A True #1? According to Dolphins HC Tony Sparano, the team thinks that WR Ted Ginn could be a true No. 1 receiver. A starter on any football team is always worth a look in the world of fantasy. But the question mark at quarterback and the fact that the offense will be new to everyone keep Ginn's value as a bench player for now. | April 03, 2008 11:29 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../804030420/1126 Henne #2? According to the Detroit News, Michigan QB Chad Henne is currently rated the #2 quarterback "by most teams." Unless something drastic happens, Boston College QB Matt Ryan appears to have a solid hold on the #1 spot. Louisville QB Brian Brohm and Delaware QB Joe Flacco could have a chance to overtake Henne for that spot. | April 03, 2008 4:54 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.bnd.com/sports/rams/story/298871.html Bulger Feeling Good After suffering a concussion and rib injuries in 2007, Rams QB Marc Bulger said he feels no residual effects. With Bulger back at 100%, there is no reason to think he can't go back to elite-fantasy status. The hiring of OC Al Saunders and a healthy OT Orlando Pace back at the blindside should help Bulger immensely. | April 03, 2008 3:02 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...mully03.article Benson To Be Ready Soon Coming off a broken ankle, Bears RB Cedric Benson is likely going to be ready before training camp begins. Benson's fantasy value is in major limbo right now. An earlier report said that the plate in Benson's foot could cause him to lose a step, which isn't good considering his play wasn't all that great while he was on the field last year. If the Bears use a high draft pick on a running back, Benson's future as the team's starter gets even bleaker. | April 03, 2008 1:51 PM ------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www2.tbo.com/content/2008/apr/03/sp...ns/?sports-bucs Clayton Looks Good After dealing with injuries the past four seasons, Buccaneers HC Jon Gruden says WR Michael Clayton "looks good right now." With the heavy competition for the starting flanker job, Clayton is going to have to play extremely well in order to gain the starting job back. We still don't consider him a fantasy option going into the summer. | April 03, 2008 1:42 PM --------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar...1/80402109/1027 Scaife To Sign Tender Titans TE Bo Scaife is expected to sign his restricted free agent tender on Thursday. Scaife will make $1.417 this year. His fantasy value is pretty low now that the team has TE Alge Crumpler. | April 03, 2008 11:19 AM --------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.miamiherald.com/588/story/479554.html/ Jags Would Give 3rd For Taylor It's being reported that the Jaguars would be willing to give up a third-round pick for Dolphins DE Jason Taylor. It sounds doubtful that the Dolphins would part with Taylor for anything other than a first-rounder. A second-rounder likely won't get the Dolphins to even talk to the Jaguars. Unless someone ponies up a first-rounder, which we doubt, Taylor will remain a Dolphin this season. | April 03, 2008 11:01 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------- Davis Disappoints At Pro Day The NFL Network reports USC TE Fred Davis disappointed at his Pro Day, timing in the 4.7s in the forty. According to Mike Mayock, Davis also struggled in the change-of-direction drills and did not appear fluid. This is Davis' first draft workout of the offseason because he has been dealing with a bad knee. The bad outing could cause his draft status as the first tight end to come off the board to plummet. | April 03, 2008 9:31 AM --------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/news/Sto...?STORY_ID=15281 Kolb To Battle For Backup According to Eagles HC Andy Reid, QB Kevin Kolb will compete with QB A.J. Feeley for the backup position behind QB Donovan McNabb. We are sure the team is hoping Kolb will win the job outright. Not only will that help them in trying to trade Feeley, but it will also reassure them that they made the right decision in drafting him. Kolb's worth is in dynasty leagues right now, but he could be a lower-end handcuff if McNabb ends up missing more time this year. | April 03, 2008 9:23 AM
kingfish247
http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../804030420/1126 Henne #2? Let alone #1. A year ago, some mocks had Brohm as the #1 overall pick. He then proceeds to have his best statistical season (with a completely new coaching staff) and now some speculate he may actually fall out of the 1st round? Brohm had almost a 2 yard YPA advantage on Ryan in '07 (8.51 vs 6.89), threw less picks (12 vs 19), better comp % (65 vs 59), and threw for only 1 less TD (30 vs 31). Keep in mind Ryan had almost 200 more attempts than Brohm in '07. A better comparison would be Brohm's '07 to Ryan's '06 season--Brohm 473 attempts to Ryan's 427 attempts... comp %: 65 to 61 TDs: 30 to 15 INTs: 12 to 10 Yds: 4024 to 2942 YPA: 8.51 to 6.89 In 4 years, Brohm had only 2 games with worse than a 50% comp rate. Ryan had 4 in '07. I just don't see the huge advantage that Ryan has vs Brohm and the other top QB prospects. http://www.miamiherald.com/588/story/479554.html/ Jags Would Give 3rd For Taylor It's being reported that the Jaguars would be willing to give up a third-round pick for Dolphins DE Jason Taylor. kingfish247
So numbers mean Brohm will be a better pro? Ha, no. But the numbers don't suggest a regression by Brohm in the past year. So because everyone now seems to think that Ryan is a top 5 pick means he will be a better pro? Brought to you by the same people that thought Brohm was a top 5 pick last year. I would say though that a QB's accuracy/efficiency are good indicators of what kind of pro they can be.

I don't think there's many teams who have Brohm lower than 2nd on their QB list. If Ryan's gone, I think Brohm will go to the Ravens at #8. Brohm might have been a little overrated last year, but he's certainly UNDERrated this year.

I don't know if the Ravens will take him but of the top 20 there are probably 10 teams that need a QB. It's hard to imagine him falling past Tampa at 20.
