Do you prefer the red or white style?

I like the white/clear stuff. it tends to be a little more tender.

I see them at the store, but they confuse me. What do you do? Just pluck em out of the jar and gnaw? Are there bones?

My sister and I used to get a jar of them along with some other odd food items in our Xmas stockings. She was a bigger fan of the pigs feet, I was a bigger fan of the smoked oysters, so we always traded.

Yeah, it is bone hair, cartilage, and fat. I like hormel the best.

Wow. . .and I'm sorry, you're currently in a bet to lose how many pounds?

Pig feet have virtually zero calories. I don't eat much of the fat as I concentrate on cartilage, veins, and meat.

That and a calf brain sandwich are standard fare in South St Louis bars. Truer Americans you will never find.

There was a restaurant in South City that I use to go to with my grandparents after Church as a kid that was known for brain sandwiches. They weren't bad at all and if I remember correctly it was a lightly fried brain, raw onion, and horseradish served on rye bread.

It's probably been almost 24 years since I've had them though.
