Falcons LB Boley arrested on battery charge

Falcons SLB Michael Boley was arrested and charged with battery at his home in Dacula, Georgia on Saturday.

Impact: Boley is free on bond. Details of his arrest are unknown. Boley was immediately designated one of Atlanta's building blocks when the new regime took over, so this is disappointing. The Falcons were looking into giving him a long-term extension. They may be a little more hesitant now.

Hester a Three-for-One Guy

RB Jacob Hester's anticipated role on the Chargers is to play running back, fullback and special teams. The Chargers gave up next year's second-round pick and a fifth-rounder this year to draft him.

Despite his average combine stats, 5-feet-11, 225 pounds, 4.59 40-yard dash, folks around the league feel he will develop into a solid pro. He'll be backing up RB LaDainian Tomlinson, but if he slides to FB on mulitple sets, he could get a chance to touch the ball more often.

Roundup at Dolphins Camp

QB Chad Henne seemed to be working on mental overload. He admitted that he didn't have a sharp practice. He took a lap for forgetting the snap count, and was overthrowing most of his receivers on Sunday. OT Jake Long, literally stood out this weekend, as the 6-7, 315-pounder dwarfed his teammates in the huddle, and despite the no-contact edict, was regularly laying out defensive linemen on running plays. DE Phillip Merling seems to be favoring his surgically repaired groin, however, he said afterward that he walks with a limp naturally. (I'm guessing home-slice has a hardcore rep. to protect) WR Davone Bess seemed to slow down Sunday, but he still displayed the best hands of the young receivers. HC Tony Sparano made it clear that the Dolphins are looking for a quick, slot receiver, a position that Bess played in Hawaii. RB Jalen Parmele stood out with his size, power and burst. GM Jeff Ireland practically gave him the No. 3 job behind RBs Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams in his post-draft wrap-up last week.

Hopefully just some rookie growing pains. Look for Henne to make a serious push to start at QB. The Dolphins brass also seems high on Bess.

Cutler To Need Insulin Pump

To deal with his Type-1 Diabetes, Broncos QB Jay Cutler will have to wear an insulin pump during practices and pre-game warmups this season.

Cutler will have to keep his blood-sugar levels in check throughout each game this year. It's something owners will have to keep a close eye on in training camp. Cutler says it's something that won't affect his 2008 season, but we are sure it might scare some owners away this year.

Perry Ready By Mid-May (I'll believe it when I see it)

According to Bengals HC Marvin Lewis, RB Chris Perry will be ready for minicamps in mid-May.

Perry, who has been dealing with shin and ankle problems, probably won't do enough this year to warrant fantasy consideration. There is still a strong possibility that he could be cut.

Saints Could Still Pursue Shockey

Even though the Saints were unable to trade for Giants TE Jeremy Shockey before the draft, there are still reports that the team may continue their pursuit for a trade.

Saints DB Roman Harper, who the Giants want, will likely have to be part of any deal between the two teams.

Henne Says He Is 100%

Dolphins rookie QB Chad Henne said his shoulder, which he separated last year, is 100%.

Henne admitted that he had his shoulder injected to numb the pain, which affected his arm strength. But it also shows the coaching staff he can play through pain. There is a quarterback competition for the starting job, so Henne has a chance. If not, he still has value in dynasty leagues.

They say they are emphasizing character but they don't seem to be distancing themselves from him. Not yet anyway.

From AJC

"Besides his skills on the field, Boley has drawn praise for actively caring for his autistic son from a previous relationship and being a spokesman for the disorder. Boley also has a daughter from a previous relationship.

No children were involved in Saturday's dispute, police said."
