David Martin could be dropped?

The Palm Beach Post suggests that Dolphins TEs David Martin and Justin Peelle could be on the roster bubble this summer.

Martin is an injury-prone former wideout who drops too many balls. He's not a Bill Parcells-type player. Peelle is moreso, but Miami already signed a blocking specialist in Sean Ryan and Anthony Fasano can play on three downs. Martin is due $830,000 in 2008 pay. Peelle makes $1.3 million.

Others

Greg Camarillo, WR: hate to see the charismatic overachiever go, but he’ll need to make a strong impression to stick on a roster loaded with special-teams standouts.

Travis Daniels, DB: with six safeties on the roster (seven, counting Jason Allen), Daniels will need to stand tall in camp.

Trey Darilek, OL: was brought in by current front office, but hasn’t been able to make an NFL roster since 2005.

Jay Feely, K: wouldn’t seem to be in jeopardy, but the Dolphins have signed not one, but two competitors.

Junior Glymph, LB: like Darilek, was brought in by current regime but without solid credentials; didn’t play last year and has eight career NFL games in four possible seasons, changing teams four times along the way.

Andre Goodman, CB: another class act in the locker room, but there are only so many jobs to go around (eight corners are listed on the roster).

David Martin, TE: eighth-year player who caught 34 passes for 303 yards and two TDs last year; Dolphins have brought in Bill Parcells favorites Anthony Fasano and Sean Ryan.

Rob Ninkovich, DE: a waiver-wire pickup in 2007 by former GM Randy Mueller has been inactive 23 times since.

Justin Peelle, TE: faces same battle as Martin, but without the production.

Tab Perry, WR: enough room on the opening-day roster for an injury-prone return specialist with Ginn already here?

Dave Rayner: entering his fourth NFL season, and he’ll have to unseat Feely to make it.

Matt Roth, DE: hasn’t lived up to pre-draft billing as 46th overall draft pick in 2005; Dolphins have collected a lot of defensive line help through free agency and the draft.

Joey Thomas, CB: hasn’t played in the NFL since 2005.
