Owens A Raider in '09?

There are quiet rumblings in the Bay Area that Cowboys WR Terrell Owens could become an Oakland Raider for the 2009 season.

Owens' 3-year, $25 million contract is set to expire at the end of the 2008 season and many have wondered aloud if the Cowboys are going to "re-up" with Owens beyond this year. If Owens did join the Raiders, he'd be surrounded by a talented cast that included JaMarcus Russell, Darren McFadden, Javon Walker and Zach Miller. Though this is nothing more than rumor right now, the prospects of him joining the "bad boys" of Oakland and succeeding where Randy Moss failed are quite intriguing.

Johnson Feels 100 Percent

After running though a 90-minute practice, Chiefs RB Larry Johnson said his body felt 100 Percent.

The Associated Press described Johnson's running as "hard and fast, free and easy", which is totally opposite from what he looked like last year. Johnson isn't a top-5 pick anymore, but he likely won't make it out of the first round either.

Smith Signs With Jets

According to ESPN, the Jets have signed former Ravens RB Musa Smith.

Smith didn't get a lot of playing time in Baltimore and we don't expect that to change with the change of scenery. Keep Smith on the waiver-wire.

Redskins Trade For James

The Redskins have reportedly traded a conditional seventh-round 2009 draft pick to the Vikings for DL Erasmus James.

It was reported that James, who underwent knee surgeries, was limping pretty badly before the team put him on waivers last week. James could add some depth to Washington's defensive line, but he likely won't be much of an IDP factor this year.

Quiet rumblings or just a depressed Raiders fan with a hilarious imagination?

Probably the latter. It's funny how in one of the other threads it was talked about how Dallas and Oakland are two of the main NFL teams that take the most chances on players with checkered pasts or who are head cases and here's a story about how T.O. might go from being a Cowboy to being a Raider.

Good move by the Vikes:

Vikings waive James

May 23rd, 2008 – 3:49 PM by Judd Zulgad The Vikings waived defensive end Erasmus James today, according to the team’s website. One of the Vikings’ two first-round picks in the 2005 draft — receiver Troy Williamson was the other — James was waived after failing to pass his physical.

James, who is recovering from three operations on his left knee in a 13-month period, did very limited work during the Vikings’ opening four days (Monday-Thursday) of organized team activities this week. “We decided today to waive Erasmus and we wish the best for him in the future,” Vikings coach Brad Childress said in a statement on the team’s website.

James originally was injured in Week 2 of the 2006 season against Carolina when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament and sprained his medial collateral ligament.

James continued to be slowed into last season and was inactive for six of the first seven games. He also battled a shoulder injury in October of last season. He made his first start of last season on Dec. 2 against Detroit but re-injured the knee and underwent season-ending ACL surgery.

James was selected with the 18th overall pick by the Vikings out of the University of Wisconsin. The Vikings believed James would provide them with a pass-rushing presence from the right end. He had four sacks in 15 games as a rookie but played in only eight games the past two years and had only one sack in that time.

“We’ll see what happens,” said Ethan Lock, who serves as James’ agent. “Something will happen. He’ll be fine.”

James arrived at the Vikings’ training camp in Mankato in 2005 after missing 19 practices because of a contract dispute. He received a seven-year deal that was set up to void after five years and had a total value of $9.8 million. A little under $7 million was guaranteed.

The move means only second-round pick Marcus Johnson, an offensive tackle, is left from the Vikings’ 2005 draft class. Also gone are Williamson, safety Dustin Fox, defensive tackle C.J. Mosley and cornerback Adrian Ward.

James traded to Redskins

May 27th, 2008 – 4:41 PM by Judd Zulgad The Erasmus James saga took another twist this afternoon.

Three days after the team placed the defensive end on waivers, James was dealt to the Washington Redskins for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2009 draft. A two-paragraph news release issued by the Vikings said the team, “originally waived James on May 23, but rescinded the transaction today and finalized the trade with Washington.”

The Vikings were able to pull James off waivers because the paperwork never officially went through with the NFL office. The Vikings informed the league office of their intention on Friday after it was closed for the Memorial Day weekend. The office didn’t re-open until Tuesday and the Vikings had time to rescind the move before it became official.

Washington obviously made the trade offer to the Vikings because it felt another team would claim James off waivers. “We really liked Erasmus coming out of college,” said Vinny Cerrato, Redskins executive vice president of football operations. “He is young, talented and has a great deal of potential.”

James, who had three knee surgeries in a 13-month period while with the Vikings, will be reunited with Redskins defensive line coach John Palermo, who worked with James when the pair was at the University of Wisconsin.

ESPN reports that in order for the Vikings to get the pick James has to make the Redskins roster.

Snyder strikes again. Dear Danny boy,

The poor guy has torn his ACL twice, torn up his shoulder, and can't pass a physical because of an obvious limp, and you go and trade for him? Did I miss something or isn't a DE's "tool of the trade" his first step? I bet if you waited a while, say a few months or maybe at least until he was cleared to WALK, you may have got him for a stick of double mint and a plane ticket. Just a thought.

Erasmus think it's a hat!

Yeah, I see that happening, T.O. leaves Dallas to play for Al Davis and whomever the stooge is calling the plays in Oakland. Oh yeah that sounds like a possible move especially after announcing he wants to enter the HOF as a Cowboy and with a ring or two. Please...................

I somewhat agree with you. But remember money talks and bull**** walks. If they don't be the highest bidder he will walk.
