Sounds like Tory Holt. He did the same.

 

Rams first-round pick Chris Long vows to be in training camp on time.

 

 

"I was never into that holdout business," he said. "That's real important to me...as a teammate more than anything." It's nice to hear, but may not matter what Long wants personally. His agent will be handling negotiations.

The agent may handle the negotiations, but it is the client's final say so as to whether he signs or not. If Long wants the contract done in time to get to camp, that's what happens, not the other way around.

As a person, he seems to be cut from a different mold. If he held out, Howie would probably kick his ass...

It's nice to hear, but may not matter what Long wants personally. His agent will be handling negotiations.

 

His agent doesn't make the decisions. He is there as legal counsel. If Long tells him to get a deal done before TC starts, that's the agent's job. It may cost a little money (relatively speaking) in the short run, but may pay off well in the long run.

 

Good attitude, good position to take.
