Interesting timing in this thing. I just last week offered to basically give away Peterson for an '09 third round rookie draft pick in my dynasty. The guy was a Benson owner - thought he might want some insurance. He declined. I will probably not offer that deal again.

Not arguing that Forte will be the starter, but Peterson put up some pretty solid numbers last season starting in place of Benson.

Yeah but he isn't a great talent. They should work this out in TC.

Tenn has a load of backs, but none of them are worth a crap. Vince could probably get Cedric a workout.

That he could. Maybe he could get him to run forward and gain yards too.

Whomever might be looking to grab Benson off the WW had better factor in a likely suspension. Between his issues & his lack of production, any NFL owner/GM would be taking a gargantuan leap (maybe close to Ricky Williams proportions) in risking signing him.

So you're saying he's going to Dallas?

:D

Yeah, they need more RBs using up cap space.

Although if he did go to Dallas, his likelihood of suspension would be reduced dramatically...

[Looks like our man Matt Forte won't be under the radar any longer. The Bears cut

loose troubled RB Cedric Benson this afternoon.

Clipped from the John Clayton article:

Chicago RB Cedric Benson, whose relationship with the team soured further because of his second arrest in little more than a month Saturday, was waived by the team on Monday, sources told ESPN.com's John Clayton.

Before his release, Benson made one last ditch effort to repair the situation, issuing an apology on Monday afternoon.

"I apologize for making the poor decision to drink and drive during the early morning of Saturday, June 7th," he said in a statement. "Given the incident last month, it was a particularly bad decision. I have no excuse for this lack of judgment.

Though I strongly believe that I am not guilty of any crime, I realize that the public and the Bears organization hold me to higher standard. Though my local attorneys will continue to work hard to prove my innocence, I confess to using poor judgment. Please accept my deepest apology."

The Bears released the running back shortly thereafter.]

Duh......apologizing for drinking and driving but strongly believes he's not guilty of any crime..........what a bum.
